TVWeek reports that among the latest batch of outlets for My Network TV includes Sinclair's WSYX/6 "ABC 6" (http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10352), half of the company's current duopoly with co-owned WTTE/28 "FOX 28".

The story indicates My Network TV will air on WSYX-DT, which would indicate the company will mount a third channel via the ABC 6 digital signal - and seek cable and satellite carriage in the market. That's the same route taken by Chelsey Broadcasting ABC affiliate WYTV/33 Youngstown...which will launch "MyYTV" in the fall on WYTV-DT, as that market's My Network TV outlet.

Sinclair has a very good relationship with the MNTV folks...they were one of the first broadcast groups to sign up for the new network, happy with the fact it wasn't asking for "reverse compensation" like The CW is.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

WSYX-TV (Channel 6) owner Sinclair Broadcasting Group has signed an agreement with My Network TV to show the network’s programming on one of WSYX’s high-definition multicast channels.
Columbus viewers with high-definition TV sets will have access to the new network, which was created as a sister to Fox after the creation of the CW left some former WB and UPN stations without an affiliation.
Scheduled to launch Sept. 5, My Network is touted as the first all-high-definition broadcast network and is aimed at viewers ages 18 to 49.
The schedule will include the serialized hourlong primetime dramas Desire, which follows two brothers on the run from the mafia, at 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Fashion House, starring Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild, at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Columbus viewers who subscribe to Time Warner Cable may see My Network TV via Cleveland affiliate WUAB.
Because of the continuing impasse in negotiations between Sinclair and Time Warner, the cable company has yet to carry WSYX’s HD offerings.
The move by WSYX is part of a broader trend as broadcast stations and networks plan for wider acceptance of the highdefinition format.
The HD format not only enables stations to broadcast high-quality widescreen video but also gives them the ability to split their signal and broadcast several offerings at the same time — multicasting.
Because growth in advertising has slowed, stations and networks are looking for ways to economically expand into multicasting.
WBNS-TV (Channel 10) has already used its multicasting capability during the past few years to simultaneously show multiple sports events.
WCMH-TV (Channel 4) had been in discussions to multicast offerings such as NBC WeatherPlus, but the station’s new owners are still getting a handle on the operation, so announcements about multicast offerings probably won’t be made until six months or a year from now, a WCMH official said.
At WSFJ-TV (Channel 51), "We think it’s going to be the future," said John Schneider, vice president of business development. "We’re hoping to buy one or two multicast channels this winter and put them on the air within the next year."
Other stations, such as WWHO-TV (Channel 53), are taking a wait-and-see approach to multicasting, citing cost considerations.

So "rewind" is going to be an HD-Multicast? My Samsung tuner says SD when i tune to that channel currently.

Sorta off topic, but my antenna (Terk HDTVa) is pointed towards columbus and I am not receiving UPN or PAX. I am afraid that if i touch my antenna then i will lose the perfectness in all my other channels..any suggestions as to what I should do?

i guess they don't care if anyone's watching, as long as they can charge companys for commercials. i think we're going to end up with 5 channels on every digital channel, one with some HD content that looks bad, and 4 channels that nobody watches. sounds just like broadcast radio, providing junk 24x7 (i haven't listened to columbus radio in years since i got satellite radio, and looks like it's going to end up being the same with tv).

So far, it looks like a lot of infomercials and reruns taking up HD bandwidth.

Do you think that this increased number of programs will put pressure on TWC to reach an agreement with Sinclair?

I don't think it will. If Lost didn't do it then why would telenovellas and reruns?

Local networks realize greater revenues from this type of programming than they do for network fare, so they do, in fact, have a greater incentive to increase the viewer base.

6.2 is coming up with a channel called MyTV. Its on Wikipedia. Anyway, does anyone know where to look for program info? Off topic, I personally like having more channels to enjoy. I use OTA in my projector room and its the only TV I have in there. Right now I'm getting 13 channels (7 networks and 6 subchannels). True, not all the subs are HD, but they are digital and they look pretty good on my HD projector.
