Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has Canadian Sattelite in this area. I've heard they have more HD content than DTV or Dish. Plus, they have channels that we can't get in the states. I am looking at StarChoice. If anyone has experience with this or ExpressVu, your input is appreciated. thanks

I have ExpressVu. What would you like to know?

I subscribed last year for the baseball season (they have WGN-HD, etc.). Right now I have it on vacation mode and will turn it on again when season starts.

Their PQ is worse than D*. Lots of artifacts, specially on scenes with a lot of movement. Baseball is ok, but dont try to watch a basketball game. Let me know what info you need.

Hopefully you got the service for the Cubbies and not that other team in Chicago! Still cannot believe that they are the champs :(

This is not quite correct. There's info on this topic @ satelliteguys.us.

It's illegal to steal the signal. It's legit as long as you pay for it. Their olympic coverage is better than NBC's. I watched CBC for the olympics growing up. They show most events live and focus on the events rather than "human interest" stories. I did not get canadian satellite as I am planning to move from Columbus this summer. But I plan to get it once I get settled in to my new locale (NW Indiana).

Cat - do you have friends/relatives in Canada, or did you go through a distributor for your subscription?

I use a broker (TVM) who was recommended by folks at satguys. They seem to do the job well. Quick response to emails, etc. So far no problems w/ them.

Just because they say have a way to do it, does not make it legal.

Trust me when I say that it is in fact illegal to subscribe to ANY canadian broadcast mediums that overlap into the united states.

If you openly talk about how to do it, the thread will be shut down.

Buying canadian service in the US is not illegal as per FCC. The other way around, buying US service in Canada is illegal as per canadian laws (CRTC).

So not sure what info you have to support your claim, but if you won't allow the discussion here, I respect that, and I'll be happy to take it somewhere else.

It is illegal to obtain a satellite signal originating from a Canadian provider into the United States. Does it happen? Sure it does; however, rule 2 of this forum states "No discussion of any illegal activity" and since it's difficult to even speculate on the subject without crossing into the legal issue, I'm closing the thread.
