As I posted yesterday, I just have an old copper electical wire tied to a 75-300 converter coax cable. Now coiled around a spool about 3 feet from 2nd story floor.
Are these numbers ok, or should they be higher to avoid pixelation?
stat % signal on HR10
6-1 (13) 85
4-1 (14) 88
10-1 (21) 95
51-1 (24) 71
28-1 (36) 95
34-1 (38) 82
53-1 (46) 71
Are these the only channels in columbus or did I miss one or two multiplexed channels?
Channels I get: 4-1, 4-2, 6-1, 10-12345, 28-1, 28-2, 34-123, 53-1.
system:
30" westinghouse lcd.
hr10-250 + 3lnb
75ohm-300ohm converter +3ft old electrical wire antenna
located just off stelzer between the airport and easton.
2nd floor, clear Lines of sight, 80+ on the 3 sats.
about 8 miles to the wbns/wcmh/wsyx towers
about 30 miles to the wwho tower

Do I have a picture of the bare wire antenna? No, but I could take one tonight.
My reception is OK now, but I want the setup to be stable.
I basically was curious if I can just keep the wire antenna forever...
OR with % signals at 80-90 percent will I have problems during rain/snow/hail. If other gahanna or hilliard people have problems at these percentages, I'll head out to rat shack and get a bowtie or other indoor antenna to firm up the percents.
FYI: Last night there were two hiccups during the NHL game on 4-1 and Lost on 6-1. One was instantaneous, on 4-1, and seemed like a momentary drop and I noticed a car drove by. During Lost, one of my neighbors got into his car and drove away, as he was backing out, the 6-1 signal was frozen and heavily distorted. as soon as he turned the corner, the signal came back. I didn't have time to flip the tuner in the middle, to know if all channels went out, or just 6-1.
So, if my homemade antenna is going to freak out on me everytime a big piece of metal drives by, my wife isn't going to be too happy. And that means my unhappiness in the long term.

A spool of wire isn't a good UHF antenna. A bowtie is probably all you need.
