Can anyone explain why ABC does not broadcast OSU FB in HD? I assume it is not just a WSYX problem as I will get the Monday night pro game in hd, with an OTA antenna of course. I note this Saturday that both CBS and NBC will have college games in HD. I can only assume that Disney is short of cash to buy the equipment. Or maybe Mussberger is second string who doesn't get access to the best equipment?? ron.

I was wrong. The Pittsburgh San Diego game is not in HD on WSYX-DT (OTA) even though the hdcolumbus.net schedule says 720p. Is it the local station?

Dont know why it whould show the pitt sandego game as hd. abc does not do any hd col football untill the bcs games. they dont make enough cash off the games to justify showing them in hd

WEll its me again. With about 9 minutes to go in the first quarter of the Pittsburgh-San Diego game the hd was switched on. Somebody needs to be chewed out, probably at WSYX. ron.

That isn't true. They are doing three this year. ABC Sports televised the Miami at Florida State game (Sept. 5 at 8 p.m.), and two other regular-season games will be in HD this year on ABC as well as the four BCS bowl games and the Capital One Bowl.

I believe the original post is a little confusing as is the topic because the topic asks about college football and the original post goes on to ask about OSU and the switches to a completely different direction by asking about the Steelers/Chargers game on MNF.
So... yes, the HD schedule was correct, the MNF game was broadcast @ 720p (OTA at least), and there were national switching problems during the game (as always).
And... yes, for college football, ABC has slim-pickins'. As has been reported in this thread, ABC will show 2 more national games and all of their bowl games. ABC will be using SD (if you can call it that) as their standard until there is not one non-HDTV in the United States.

Also hate to break it to you, but they are not going to waste hd equipment on a team with the current record that is not nationaly televised
