Pre-ordered My 360

I broke down and preordered my 360 on Friday. I went into EB Games @ Easton and put down $50 on a deluxe system. She told me I was number 80 on the first shipment list and there were still spots available for the first shipment. I probably will go ahead and preorder a game as well; but I can't decide which one to preorder. I would like to check out the next gen Madden--but Project Gotham 3 looks nice as well. I most likely will take both my Playstation 2 and XBOX in for trade on the 360 because the 360 is backwards compatible with XBOX games and the PS3 will be backwards compatible with the PS2 games as well.

Anyone else preordering?

I've thought about it but I'll probably just wait till it's released. Every place doing these crazy bundles don't save you any money. My favorite are those $2000 bundles from gamestop and ebgames. I assume I'll get the 360 on its release date but it really depends on what the games look like at that point. I'd probably get PDZ but the game I really want is Gears of War. That one just looks amazing. Not all Xbox games will be backward compatible with the 360. They've not posted a list yet but at least the big players will be compatible (such as Halo2). If it's compatible with most of my games that I have then I'd probably trade it in. I'll hold on to my PS2 for a little while as there are games I'm still playing on there and I don't know when the PS3 will be coming out.

Yeah, the online bundles are idiotic to say the least. I personally don't need 25 games with a 17 year commitment to XBOX live--at no discount :x

I have read that not all XBOX games will be compatible with the 360, but most of the last couple generations should be. As for my PS2, I only play Gran Turismo on it and that is only a litle bit (their so-called "1080i" needs a lot of work).

I was really torn because I figured it would be like everything else, hyped release, a billion preorders, and your local Wal-Mart has about 5000 in stock down the road.

The thing that did it for me was the fact that it's released the week of Thanksgiving coupled with a world-wide release will probably equal a shortage. (plus, maybe I'll cash in on some eager people ready to double my cash on eBay :twisted: )

I just called the EB at 256 near me and they said that they haven't had any orders left for first shipment for a while. He's also pretty sure none of the EB stores have had any first shipments available for a while now including Easton.

I inquired about trading in my ps2 and xbox, but he mentioned all the seals needed to be intact. I've broken the seals on both of mine to fix disc read errors unfortunately.

:shock: Hopefully I wasn't just told that I was in the first shipment. She told me that I was numero 80 on the list--with a scheduled pickup date of around the 22nd of November (she couldn't gurantee the date). Oh well, even if I get one the second or third week, I'll be happy.

I put little value in the comments from the employees there. I've been told many incorrect things when visiting there. My favorite was that I needed to pre-order the Xbox360 right now or there's be none left when they arrive. And this was back at E3 way before any kind of launch date was announce or pricing. I'll probably just get it at BestBuy with their replacement plan so that if there are any "unforseen" microsoft problems in the future I can easily get it swapped for a new one. I did that with the PS2 when they came out with one that had quieter fans.

Called again to verify where I was at on the list....and it's a little off from 80... 32 to be exact--I'm 112. Apparently, they are only getting in half of what they were supposed to, bummer, and they are only expecting in 80 before Christmas... So, that means no 360 before Christmas for me. I think I'm going to keep my pre-order, and try to find one elsewhere tonight or tomorrow.

Well last night I camped out at Best Buy from 4:30pm until 9am this morning. It was wicked cold out with the wind along side the building. Luckily my friend and I brought North Face sleeping bags that kept us quite warm all night. We built a wind break to one side of us to stop the wind which made the experience much more enjoyable. I'm still quite sore and tired right now.

Holy crap zeliq! Not me. I waited for a couple of hours outside Radio Shack this morning only to find they had sold them all online. I guess I'll be waiting (and hoping) for my preorder to come through with EB!

Hell yeah. I made sure to do some research before hand so I knew they had 42 premium systems coming in. And since I saw Best Buy employees in line with me I knew they weren't allowed to snag them before the general population so that number should be solid. When we got there my friend and I were #19 & #20. Once we new that we set up shop and got warm. If my wife didn't have class she would have been there to buy an extra one for us to sell on eBay. Wish that would have happened as people are making a killing over there.

So right now I've played a few minutes of Perfect Dark Zero. Looks great in 1080i.
