Hey all
has anyone heard anything about the channel changes at WOSU? My OTA has remapped some of the channels: 34-1 is still HD, now 34-2 is the Ohio channel, and 34-3 is WOSU-plus. 34-4 and 34-5 are dropped. What happened to PBS Kids? are the channels changed on the cable lineup as well? thanks

i certainly hope this change is permanent...WOSU HD quality really had taken a hit with 4 other channels being broadcast at the same time...hopefully they have come to realize that people CAN see the difference between their HD and everyone else.

34-1 is now PBS-HD 24 hours, but they continue to multicast it with 2 other standard definition channels, so it remains a pixellated mess. 34-2 is now The Ohio Channel 24 hours. 34-3 is now the PBS National Service (Directv 384) 24 hours. The Ohio Channel and the PBS National Service previously shared 34-5.
PBS Kids is now PBS Kids Sprout, which is a new cable/satellite channel aimed at preschoolers.
Quote from wosu.org:
With the addition of this new satellite service (PBS Kids Sprout), effective October 1, WOSU.TV will no longer offer its digital channel WOSU.Kids. PBS has also decided to transition out the WOSU.You service due to financial challenges (on the heels of a new license fee for PBS HD channel, many stations were not able to budget for both services). These changes will allow WOSU to expand its other digital television services WOSU.Ohio, WOSU.HD, and WOSU.Plus to air 24 hours-a-day.
Another quote:
WOSU to Offer Three Digital Services as of October 1. WOSU.HD (24 hours): High-definition or Digital Widescreen programming featuring art, culture, nature, and more; WOSU.Ohio (24 hours): Programming from The Ohio Channel, produced by Ohio Public Broadcasting stations; WOSU.Plus (24 hours): Programming that is one-day delay of primetime PBS programming as well as daytime children’s programs from 6am to 6pm every day.
