Posted on Programing Notices page: (excluding former Adelphia customers) The following channels may be added on or after May 24th: Lifetime HD, Cooking Channel HD, DIY HD, Fox Soccer HD, Fox Soccer Plus HD, Hallmark Channel HD, OWN HD, Oxygen HD, HUB HD, and Nat Geo Wild HD.

Posted on the Programing Notices page: Time Warner Cable (excluding former Adelphia customers ) - The following channels maybe added on or after November 8th: YES HD, NESN HD, CI HD, HBO Signature HD, HBO Comedy HD, Showtime Extreme HD, Starz Kids HD and GSN HD.

Do I need a cable box for the HD version of the 67 +- channels on the basic cable I receive now, or is it NOT really free at no extra charge? Thanks Kirk

Yes, you'll need a digital receiver to get all of the HD channels. The locals (fox, abc, cbs, etc) are broadcast over QAM with basic, but to receive all of them, you have to have the receiver due to the way they broadcast them. So, yes, you're right. Even though you don't have to pay extra to get HD, you still have to pay extra to get the convertor to watch it.

I seem to recall that it's more than just having a cable box. I believe you also have to subscribe the the Digital package to get HD.

And the cable box must be an HD box.
