Hello, all:

I've been reading here for years, but never registered nor posted as I haven't really had anything much to say.

As some of you may know, I run the website RabbitEars.Info, a website dedicated to providing information about digital television stations across the United States (and expanding into Canada, these days). You can see my listing of Columbus here: http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?mktid=39

I am in need of one or more people who could lend me a hand in the Columbus area. One key tool that gives me most of my technical information outside of the FCC database is TSReader, a tool which uses generic USB and/or PCI computer tuners to basically tear apart the station's stream and figure out what's in it. All the data, the bitrates, the resolution, it's all there.

I would really like it if one or more people with computer-based tuners on 32-bit Windows machines might be able to lend a hand. I'm trying to get data on not only all the full-power stations in the area, but also the low-powers. If someone can receive Zanesville's WHIZ in addition to any of the stations I've listed in my listings as linked above, I would love to have data on that station as well.

Anyone who's interested in helping out is free to either reply or PM; I can provide step-by-step instructions. Upon providing the data, I use it to both update the listings and I post the raw data for public inspection. Expand out "Technical Data" and you'll see for a number of the stations for which I have older data. The "HTML Export" link will take you to the raw data to see the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

I look forward to being able to contribute around here, though I haven't seen a whole lot for me to say. And I hope that my project is a worthy one and that someone (or more than one someone) can lend a hand. :)

Thanks, all.

Thanks for finally posting Trip :D

Send TVPat a PM. He should be able to assist you.

Well, I sent him a PM on the 18th and just happened to notice that his last time on the forum was February 12.

Even if someone doesn't have a tuner but has a Windows computer with an antenna hookup nearby, I can have a tuner mailed out to collect data with on a loan. My only condition is that you mail it on to the next person when I provide an address.

Thanks, all. :)

Are you still interested in this? I have Windows-7 x64 with TSReader light and a Hauppauge 950Q working and could get a few captures. I was able to get WHIZ from the west side with my hdhomerun, but the HDHR3-US is not working with TSReader lite for some reason. Have you had any luck with TSReader lite and the new SiliconDust HDHR3-us tuners?

Yes, I am still very interested. I have not yet run into anyone who owns the new HDHomeRun, so I don't know what to say about that exactly. What version of TSReader Lite are you receiving? Are you trying to use the ATSCBDASource driver with the HDHomeRun or the HDHR driver?

As for the rest, anything you can receive would be great. Fire up TSReader, and once it's had a chance to settle, go to the Export menu and choose HTML Export. In the resulting window, check all the boxes except for EIT and Thumbnails. Give the file a name and save it. Rinse and repeat for each station. When you've got them all, e-mail them to me at webmaster AT rabbitears DOT info. Send me one station as a sample first to make sure you've got it right, then I'll tell you to collect the rest.

Thanks so much. :)
