I installed the WOW digital adapter today. I don't subscribe to WOW Digital or HD channels (budgetary issues), but I have an HDTV and would get CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, and the "WB/UPN/whatever you call it" in HD directly through the cable on channels 201 - 209. Now with the digital adapter installed, I have lost all of these HD channels. Is this a permanent change when installing the digital adapter? I thought that every cable system is required to broadcast local HD channels to any customer with an HDTV, even a customer who did not subscribe to digital cable or HD channels. If anyone knows more abot this, please share your information. Thanks

I forget to add that I know I can get these HD channels OTA, but I still wonder if they can be removed from my cable subscription

Hello!

It is true that there are not HD channels available when using the DTA supplied by Wow!. However, just today Wow! announced that they have decided to broadcast all basic tier channels over QAM, including locals in HD.

So I would recommend that you disconnect the DTA, connect the cable feed directly to your HDTV and rescan for digital channels. As long as your HDTV tuner is QAM compatible, then you will get all of your basic cable channels AND locals in HD without a box or DTA!

This is really great news!

Looks like someone already beat me to it. But I wanted to let you know that I was planning on cutting my WOW service as I use a media center computer for television. But now I see that I can get all the new channels in QAM digital format!!

This is a wonderful day!! I seriously thought I would lose my great deal, but now we all get the same channels we did before. AND they are all digital!!

I can't wait for the rest of the channels to transition. Does anyone know if we will get more of the basic HD channels?

in the paperwork I see some cool ones that are not starred like Spike HD, MTV HD, etc. That would be even more awesome!
