Hi, folks. I surfed onto this site.

I've finally decided to jump into the world of HDTV and retire my old Toshiba. I'm looking for a decent HDTV; that's the good news.

The bad news is, I don't have a lot to spend, I'm particular about what I want, and I plan on buying the day after Christmas for reasons of price.

My questions are...

* What's a good 32" 1080 120Hz choice?:confused:

* Where to buy in Columbus to get something like this?

Thanks in advance. :)

I have a Samsung 58" plasma I bought last year. My only complaint is the sound. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Samsung.

My cousin just bought my aunt and uncle a Vizio 42" LCD for Christmas. Looked pretty darn good to me over Thanksgiving. Vizio makes affordable stuff.

Funai, Emerson, Sylvania, Magnavox and Philips are all made by Funai. Haven't seen one in action yet, but a buddy of mine just bought a 42" Sylvania he thinks looks great.

Welcome!

I think that hhGregg does the best dealing. I would go with one of the big names, Samsung, Panasonic Viera, etc. Make sure it has what you want, HDMI ports, 120 Hz... Im guessing you could get for just over $300 for the size you want.

I did some surfing last night and came up with my short list:

Sony KDL-32EX500
$589 BB
$584 HHG
$583 CC
$583 WM

Sony KDL-32EX710
$809 BB
$808 CC

LG 32LE5400
$600 BB

LG 32LE5300
$550 BB
$606 HHG

LG 32LD550
$720 CC

Samsung UN32C6500VF serious video flaws -- flashing picture in dark room
$1000 BB
$1000 HHG

Panasonic Viera TC-L37D2 bad audio
$700 BB

Vizio SV320XVT1A possible pix quality problems
$450 CC

I wonder what the difference is between those two Sonys that there's a price difference of more than $200? I see that most of what's on Sears' web site is really mail order from other web sites and not in their brick & mortar stores. I'm really partial to Sony, given my experience with them. I'll check out Stereovisions today, although they probably deal more with 50" and above.

Stay away from the Panasonic. I used to be a Panasonic fan back in the old days, but I'm not very impressed with my brother's picture. They say certain models have a problem with the reds fading over time.

The prices you are posting don't look so hot. I've seen 42" and 46" TVs for around the price points you are posting. I would get one of those or look online at http://www.google.com/search?q=samsung+a550&tbs=shop%3A1&aq=f#sclient=psy&hl=en&tbs=shop:1&q=samsung+b550+58%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=c9f200e8d6433b2a . Don't be afraid to buy online if you find a good deal.

I did some serious comparison shopping this afternoon, and I got snagged by a Korean fish hook: Samsung LED. This picture was just so superior, the other TV manufacturers may as well pack up their toys and go home. Trouble is, even the 32" is out of my price range. ($1000 for the UN32C6500)

Why do you need LED? Get an LCD or a plasma with a bigger screen. A 32" TV roughly equates to a 25" analog TV.

I agree Samsung (and Sony) are the best pictures, which is why I bought Samsung.

We have a 27" analog now and this is all I need. I'd have to sit outside my living room window if I got anything bigger than that.

Plasma looked good but after seeing this LED, nothing can hold a candle to it.

Everybody seems to have Sammys, and now I see why. I was bitterly disappointed in the Sony picture, it was soft & washed out.

There's a Philips 32" at Target for $300. I'd get that.

New wrinkle in the never-ending saga: Best Buy had a couple of the Sonys I was originally looking at, and there was a world of difference between these and the first I saw, at a different store. This tells me it was probably something in the distribution system and/or the store. These are a lot less and I could definitely live with these. I'm sure I'll come out smelling like a rose - somehow.

I used to be in the Panasonic fan behind, but I am not very deep impression, my brother's picture. And they said, some models have a fade over time the question.
