For about the past week, I haven't been able to get any the 3 Columbus PBS channels with regularity. They sometimes are tricky when the weather is bad. But since the storms last week, they hardly come in at all. My antenna is inside and hasn't moved. This is the longest I've had a channel outage. No other channels are affected. Anyone else had this?
I just checked, and I'm getting all 3 WOSU OTA channels about 3 miles west of Lancaster.
I've got a 9 element yagi with a corner reflector for UHF, pointed in the general direction of CowTown, running through a RadioShack RF amplifier, hooked up to a DirecTV HR20-700s.
Maybe it was all of the Gus Macker b'balls flying through the air this weekend? ;)

I have a vhf/uhf rabbit ears w. fine tuner, attached to an old rectangular UHF antenna mounted on an old pedestal fan stand. Placed by an open, north facing window- this goes to a Radio Shack amplifier by my TV.
Not sure what threw this off. I had to experimentally re-adjust the antenna and fine tuner several times to get it back to receiving the PBS channels. Final adjustment was not more than one click on the fine tuner and one inch move of the antenna.
I still think that weather can affect the reception. There's also a patch of trees near the west of the path that are now full with leaves- much more open in winter and spring.

(have had trouble with WOSU since early summer- increasing since early august) // I still think that weather can affect the reception. There's also a patch of trees near the west of the path that are now full with leaves- much more open in winter and spring.

which mentions changes in reception at this link:
http://www.wosu.org/tv-tower
Ever since the conversion to all-digital broadcasting last year, some over-the-air viewers trying to watch WOSU TV’s three broadcast channels have had problems receiving our signal inside buildings, or even receiving the signal at all.
WOSU is going to solve some of those problems by more than doubling our broadcast power (from 250kW up to 503kW!).
But as in any path to better service, there will be a few bumps in the road.
Beginning August 8, and running through mid-August, there will be scattered service problems while we make the change. Bad weather could extend this period.

Well, there may be something to this as I have now lost my Ch34.1-2-3 reception altogether for days on end. Just did a re-scan and they didn't show up at all. I'm hoping they are back soon.
I sure hope it's related to this transition...
Can anyone comment on how weather and trees affect their reception?
I've had fine reception from late fall thru early spring- but as a large row of trees nearby filled with leaves, I've had varying reception problems on various channels. Also, cloudy skies seem to reduce my reception.

... Anyone else had this?
Yep. I know some others having problems with them too. When they do show up the signal is about half the level of all the other Columbus stations. Hopefully the upgrade will solve this for most of us.

I have yet to receive a signal back on Channel 34.1,2,3. I notice it a bit there in the afternoons, around 3pm. It was there earlier, but as I type (4pm) nothing.
Is the work done on the antenna there yet? The WOSU site message says, "through late August."
But all I get is black.
Will the new WOSU antenna be in the same position?
Might I have to move/ adjust mine?

I was still having weak signal and intermittently loosing WOSU as of yesterday. But tonight for the first time they are as strong as the other Columbus stations.
Now we'll see if it holds.
