For the love of God, please give us back a full-sized image. It quit snowing days ago and don't care about schools a hundred miles away. I don't think they could have found a way to be more obtrusive. It definitely encourages me to change the channel.

Yeah, WBNS has been the WORST. The technology has already been developed (umm, ESPN, NFL, CNN, FOX News, etc.) to run scrolling content at the bottom--why not implement it, Frank?? kthxbi

Right now I have to download the shows off of usenet to get good quality video. My vote is for the closing information to only be on during commercials. How about we dedicate one of the PBS subchannels to be used for this information? Or even every station could turn on a subchannel that has a static image with closing information so as not to take much away from the bitrate of the broadcast show.

Or how about using subtitles (captioning) for the closing info? Then people can turn it on or off as they wish.

They have to have room to sell the adds.

THESE CLOSINGS BROUGHT TO YOU BY:

But they will claim it's their DUTY as a public trust.

Have been watching a lot of CBS shows on HD Showcase (1400 on TW). You don't have to see the crap. Let's face it all comes done to money.

Heck, I would settle for them keeping the actual TV image centered so that I could zoom in and kick the closings off the screen. But they do it such that if you zoom you cut off heads.

I think it was ABC that was doing a pop up when a new closing was announced. Talk about distracting/annoying. It's very difficult to watch a show with this crap going on.

What % of people get closings this way anyway? Isn't it much easier to check a website than to wait for it to scroll or pop up?

I would lay off criticizing local TV stations as they are the only immediate source for local news anymore. Localism is not only part of their mission, it is really the only reason for their existence. Since you can't really get breaking news on the radio anymore, where else can you go for this kind of news? Besides, much like a newspaper whereas people like to see their name in print.
