Xbox exec denies existence of 1080p gaming for the PS3 (http://hdtv.engadget.com/2006/03/22/xbox-exec-denies-existence-of-1080p-gaming-for-the-ps3/)
Sounds like a bit of sour grapes to us, but Microsoft's Director of Game Tech, Scott Henson, spoke some rather doubtful words about PS3's 1080p claims (http://engadget.com/2005/05/16/engadget-amp-joystiqs-live-coverage-of-sonys-playstation-3/) in an interview with Kikizo the other day. He states: "I think 1080p, just to address that directly, will be basically impossible. I think if you talk to any developer they will tell you that they will not have a performing game at 1080p." Obviously full speed 1080p games will be a hard mark to hit early on, but it seems a bit brash to state that no one is going to figure it out over the PS3's lifespan. Henson also discussed the potential for Dashboard (http://gaming.engadget.com/search/?q=Dashboard) upgrades and non-Media Center video streaming, but didn't seem quite as confident on those points.
