I think I have identified a problem with SA boxes from TW. In one case I have the analog output of a SA 4250HDC box connected to audio input of a Dell 42inch TV and the TV audio output to the TV's side-mounted speakers. I have to set the TV volume to almost maximum to get satisfactory sound. In the second case I have the analog output of a SA 8300HD box connected to an input of my theater receiver part of a different TV setup, see below. Again I have to set receiver volume to near maximum. I should add that I do this to receive cable music with the TV turned off. Normally I have HDMI from the SA8300 to the input of a new Samsung 58B650 and the TV sound output of the TV via optical to an input on the theater receiver. No volume problems then. I assume I have no problem with the HDMI audio since it is digital. I have both the HDMI and the analog connected to the box , switching at the receiver. If I am right about the low analog level from the boxes what can be done about it, short of adding external preamps? Are there any adjustments that TW can make to the boxes? I do have hearing problems so I probably need louder sound than those with normal hearing. thanks.
