If i'mot mistaken, the tube plays music videos that viewrers "request" by calling a 900 number. I used to watch it when i lived in nyc on an LP station. I always wondred who would actually call in to ask for videos. Anyhoo, it's a waste of bandwidth imho.

The Tube Music Network signed a distribution agreement with Sinclair a couple weeks ago (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/tvstations/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002235068). I will definately complain if the picture quality degrades.

This freeking sucks
Who in the hell is gonna use this????
I say its about time the FCC step in and Define HD specs and require broadcasters to use full bandwith during prime time events.

Isn't one of the benefits of 720p the lower bandwidth usage compared to 1080i?
A music video subchannel on a 1080i station might be something to get worked up about. On a 720p station, you probably won't even be able to notice it (as least that's what I'm hoping).

I don't even think on 1080i it hurts that much. Can anyone tell a differece between WCMH now compared to before weather plus started?

Absolutly I can. Before the recent upgrade there was bad macroblocking issues. Now to correct this, the picture is MUCH softer with way less detail.
Keep in mind that WCMH is only siphoning off 2MBs for thier sub channel.
I highly doubt WTTE is going to set it any lower than 4 MBs. Nor do I belive that they are going to invest in any sort of good multiplex equipment like NBC has

Maybe with the extra ad revenue from the music video channel they'll fix their signal strength for all of us way up north.

I wouldnt hold your breath. The problem up north happens to be the possition of the transmitter. they are at very high power actualy.

Has anyone noticed deterioration in PQ since the "coming soon" bulletin has been broadcast? I don't watch Fox much outside of football or baseball season. Presumably the most noticeable changes would be in NASCAR.

agreed - 28-2 is crap. i noticed a drop in quality when 4-2 came online. i haven't noticed a drop in quality on 28-1 though, idol looks great still on my 720p tv. that's about the only show that looks good on fox, come to think of it.

I personally like TheTube. I listened/watched for a couple hours last night while relaxing and working on my computer. In my book the more OTA channels the better. I know the networks are HD, but the subs are digital and still look good on my pojector. I have cable for all the other HD channels but I like the ABC, FOX, and toher channels I'm getting on here!

problem with the sub chans is not the quality of them subs, but the more you add them the more the HD goes down the tubes.
I didnt spend 3000 bucks on a tv to see the crap wosu puts out as "hd" and i dont want the others to go down.
nbc has al ready lost it's edge, but imagine if they shaun had not limited the sub to 2mbps...
fox looks bout the same as before the sub.
abc seems to have a bit of trouble on thier sub chan side so i think they are bit starving it. i'm afraid that if they up it, it will hurt the hd

hopefully abc will remain looking good until college football season is over.
