The last I checked TW did not support the HDMI output on the SA8300HD DVR box. Has that changed? I am thinking about replacing my 5 year old HDTV and I notice new sets have mostly HDMI inputs. I know I can buy a component to HDMI cable set, but it would be neater if TW activated the HDMI socket. Thanks.

I can't speak specifically to the 8300, but on the 4240 that we have, The HDMI only works on digital channels.

Go ahead and use the HDMI. It works just fine with the 8300HD. I've never had a problem with them supporting my setup and both of my TVs use HDMI.
