Hey all,

Just flipping through channels this morning, and noticed that the CBS Early Show is still being broadcast in SD. For that matter, so is the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It seems as though every other CBS show is broadcast in HD. Does anyone know if these shows are filmed in HD, and possibly broadcast in SD by the affiliates, or are they both still filmed in SD (why?)? Thanks!

Nick

I found this article about the CBS News Conversion.

The top-rated Sunday morning news show will be the third CBS News program to broadcast in HD, following the CBS Evening News With Katie Couric, which switched to HD last July, and 60 Minutes, which made the move in September. Newsmagazine 48 Hours, which was originally slated to go HD this year; weekday news program The Early Show; and Sunday public-affairs show Face the Nation won't make the move until 2010 due to budget constraints.

Ferguson's low budget and lack of HD is one of Craig's running jokes about CBS. He often points out the bucket used to collect water from the studio's leaking roof. He mentioned just this week that he'd probably never be seen in high-def. That may or may not be true, but for now, it's still SD.

I don't watch him religiously, but when I'm up that late, I usually tune in. Craig is hilarious, especially compared to the painfully unfunny (and yet uber-hyped) Jimmy Fallon. He wasn't funny on SNL, and his monologues are just filled with bad writing and delivery. How he's still on the air is beyond me. Every time I see the Roots, it looks like they don't want to be there, but continue to do the gig cuz the money has to be real good. I guess I hope it's just the deal with a startup talk show, but NBC shoulda put Ferguson on waaaaaaay before they considered Fallon. Just my 2 cents....lol.

CBS have money issues? Their shows are very high rated.

Furguson had his first HD show last night. Minor tweeks to the set and TWO NEW STAGE LIGHTS. He's got Jimmy Fallon shaking in his boots. Who needs a band when you've got such great puppets?

The only funny thing that Jimmly Fallon does is his weekly Thank You's. I DVR The Late Late now.
