I've got a nice refund coming so I've been considering blowing a wad of it on a new 360. According to my brother its still impossible to find one in stock anywhere in Columbus. Anyone know if any stores have it in stock or a good way to go about acquiring one? Also...any particular websites you recommend for keeping up with 360 news and reviews and such?

Smak Runner 2K finnally found one, so maybe he'll let us know where he found it. http://www.hdcolumbus.net/vb-hdtv/showthread.php?t=438
I go to IGN for most of my gaming news, but I also go to Gamespot some too.

I got it at Target between Tuttle and West Broad, whatever that road is...you can see it from 270. They had a few - my buddy also got one a few hours after I did, I guess they got a suprise shipment. They had been saying "first week of April", but I went in about two weeks ago and boom.
Best of luck in finding one, I know Best Buy says they'll have a whole bunch next week.

Picked up 2 last night at Target on Sawmill. Got 1 for me and 1 for my brother who had been looking since Xmas. Only game I got so far is CoD2. Playing that at 720p on a nearly 10 ft screen...WOW. Man do I suck though. I have a huge learning curve ahead of me. I am so used to playing shooters on the PC with a mouse and keyboard.

You might want to check out GamingNexus (www.gamingnexus.com). They are local and their EIC checks this board on a regular basis :D

If you like shooters you might want to check out the BF2:Modern Combat demo that was released last night, it's not bad and features some pretty decent graphics.
Rumor has it that they are going to release a demo for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tonight and that game is pretty damn sweet.

I need more time to check out these games!
Falcon, the gamingnexus site looks informative and it's cool that it's local. Are you affiliated with them?

Any advice / tips on how to make the jump from PC first person shooter controls to console? I am sooooo used to using keyboard + mouse after all these years and years of playing HL, TFC and CS on the PC. I feel completely out of my element trying to use the 2 thumb sticks on the Xbox controller.

Practice, practice, and more practice. I'm still a bit rough with it but you just have to remember that the layout is roughly the same. Your left hand controls movement and the right controls where you look. You might also want to try switching invert on/off and see if that helps a bit.
Also get used to the fact that the controls are not nearly as accurate as the ones on a pc...that's been the killer for me.

I used to do pretty well at FPS games on the PC a while back and making the transition to console has been challenging. I still would prefer to have a mouse to do my aiming with but I've gotten better and better at the console versions. After getting a console I basically never use my Mac/PC for gaming. It's not as much fun as kicking back on the couch with a HDTV to play on. I always turn invert off and crank the sensitivity way up on the look stick. That way I get something close to the response of a mouse.
