I'm curious if this would achieve what I want.

Here's my current setup:
I have 2 actual cable lines into the house; 1 to bedroom, 1 to family room
I have the HD box in the bedroom and the HDDVR in the family room. The tech had to run a 2nd line outside to hook up to the HD DVR

If I asked for the SWM could I do this:
Keep the bedroom the same
Only need to use ONE line to the HDDVR in the family room and still be able to use it to full potential (my understanding of the SWM)
Use the 2nd line the tech added outside to power a 3rd box in another bedroom (hopefully another HDDVR)

My understanding is that the SWM only needs one cable line to the HD DVR, but you can still use all the tuners, functionality, etc. I may be wrong, but I hope I'm not. Don't feel like running millions of cables around my house and having to hide them somehow. (don't have a basement)

Thanks in advance for the info :)

You are correct. The SWM will run multiple tuners on a single line.

I believe that there are restrictions on number of tuners per SWM, but I have a setup just like yours and you've got it right.

My Dish is the newer one with the SWM on the LNB, so there is one line coming into the house. From there, there is a power inserter (to power the LNB) which goes to a 4 way splitter. Then you run a single line to each room you want to put a box in. Two tuners wil run off the room line.
