YOW!!!!

I just bought a new receiver -- my old Sherwood is finally biting the dust. It's a Pioneer A/V receiver (VSX-818V) - 100W/channel 5.1 audio -- 3 component, 3 HDMI inputs, 2 TOSLink audio, 1 coaxial audio, AM/FM, iPod, XM/Sirius, etc.....

I wanted to pick up a couple of TOSlink cables (for the HR20 and Insignia), but was knocked out by the amazingly inflated price -- $30 (BeastBuy, Sears, RadioShack) for a 6' cable? C'mon, it's just a piece of fiber with a couple of connectors on each end -- kinda like the overpriced Monster cables.

Anyway, does anyone have a local (Central Ohio) source for REASONABLY priced cables?

It's hard to find reasonably priced cables in town. I highly recommend monoprice.com for all your cable needs. A 6' Toslink is only $2.14 which is just a bit cheaper than $30.

Thanks!

I suspect the shipping will cost more than the cables.... But that's okay!

Actually, it (the shipping) didn't cost more. I ordered 2 6' coax digital, 2 toslink, 3 RGB composite cables, and a 50' spool of 12AWG speaker wire for a total of $35.45 -- I'll have 'em by Thursday or Friday.

Thanks again!

Monoprice is the only place I buy cables...even with shipping, they are far cheaper than anyone else, and I've had no problems with quality.

I had one bad HDMI cable from them, and it was replaced without question, and shipped out the day I notified them that it didn't work. They didn't even bother asking for the defective one back.

I always buy my cables online, including monoprice. I've never had an issue with any of them.

It's crazy how the stores mark up the price.

yeah, cables are one of the worst markups for price at the store. Just ask a Best Buy employee who is able to get things from the store for cost. They always say that cables are one of the biggest discounted items for them.
