It looks like tomorrow (March 21st) there will be some form of a HD-DVD demo going on at HH Gregg over on Sawmill. Nothing is posted about times so I'm kinda thinking that they'll be running that demo loop they've been showing for HD-DVD. Hopefully they'll be someone there from Toshiba to talk to and ask questions.
Any one interesting in going?

Does anyone know the hours that they'll be there? The link Zelig posted just indicates dates, not times.

Just spoke with hhGregg, they said that the day and time may have changed and they are "supposed" to call me back with more information as soon as they can get answers. I will keep you posted, but if anyone knows anything more, please post.

They did call back and told me that it is tomorrow at 10:00 AM. They did not have any other clarification on if it was going to take place throughout the day.
HD-DVD Demo Date: Sawmill location HH Gregg @ 10:AM, Tuesday 3/21
thanks zelig for letting us know.

Well if the roads are well enough to drive then I might make it out there for the show. Then again, I know what HD looks like already so I'm not sure what all I'll learn from the show.
Now if they had a PS3 with BluRay...

<Insert evil laugh here> I can't wait for November to get here. I would definitely trek through the snow to get ahold of one of those.

I wanted to stop in, but I could not make it. I imagine that is was not a huge deal, but would have been nice to see what is up.

Went over today to see if they left behind a demo unit and they indeed did....
HD-XA1
SET UP:
Toshiba 1080p DLP running over compoent 1080i
They where running the side by side demo showing the split screen differences and this did nothing for me. The demo disc also has trailers which you have to use the remote to aces title 2 so I took it upon myself to view these instead. First up Dukes of Hazzard, not impresed, then Serenity,40 year old Virgin and The Intreprater(sp?) Much better and peaking my interest........then Kong........I'm sold......I watched the DVD of this last night and was happy with the PQ but this was just awesome......if all the disks are this good then I am in...worth a check out if you are interested in the format, the sales guy who finally came over said players will be on the shelves next month..
one note.....the player did indeed freeze up on me requiring me to unplug it to get it going again when I was trying to change the title menu.

The sales rep I spoke to was not the most informed, granted my knowledge comes from reading the AVS Forums but I knew more about it the he did, another gentleman was there and I basically did the sales guys work for him :) From all I gather it;s gonna be up to the studios to decide on all copy protection schemes.....but I did check to make sure it was outputting 1080i, I questioned as to why they did not have the HDMI running and the sales guy just kinda stared at me blankly.
Im going to go back over and give it another viewing when its less crowded..

It's still there, and will be until the 31st if anyone wants to go see it.
It's a pre-production unit, so the firmware is a bit buggy...it crashes often.
