I am here in Columbus (Bexley) and have DirecTV. I have always been able to receive 53 OTA until very recently. I just can not get it anymore via OTA. Anyone else? Did something change? Thanks for anyone responding. J

I am getting it fine here in Hillard today. What really suprises me is that I am using an unamplified set of rabbit ears in my basement.... I usually have to get the antenna above ground level and use an amp.... :dunno: Weird.

Greetings,

At my location, in Lancaster, 53.1 is the only channel I *can't* get.
Not even a hint.

Presently I get: 4, 4,1, 4,2, 6, 6.1, 6.2, 10, 10.1, 28, 28.1, 34, 34.1, 34.2, 34.3, 51, 51.1 (Faintest of all signals)

Are there any other channels I should be receiving???

On my last re-scan, these 2 numbers added themselves, but have no signal that I can tell.

38.8
38.9

If you have a rotor on your antenna, it's possible to get ch 18 (WHIZ) in Zanesville, the 20's (WOUB) in Athens and 53. I still want to raise my antenna some more to try and get some fringe channels. I got ch 45 out of Dayton one day last year out of the blue for about an hour.

I think 38 is the actual channels for 34, WOSU. I've seen 38.1-38.5, but nothing higher than that.

Curious... Tonight, during a rainstorm, I decided to do a rescan. At last, I got 53.1. It's still weak, blanks out occasionally, but better than before. Wondering... have they increased their signal??? I've done nothing new with my antenna.

And still, I get 38.8, 38.9... but nothing there, just black screen. Are those just place holders? I think I'll delete them.

It looks like DirecTV has just added WOSU-HD and WWHO-HD as MPEG4 satellite channels. No more need for an antenna to get those. They did not add the WOSU subchannels.

Greetings Group,

Shortly after my last post, 53.1 disappeared again. Now as of 09-18, it is back again and clear, but still intermittent. Are they doing anything with their signal (Stronger test signal when it appears?) I have done nothing with my amplified antenna.

As I understand, digital is "line of sight" and the signal doesn't bend. So shouldn't it be all or nothing- all the time?

Do weather conditions affect digital signals??? For instance it is very clear out tonight.

And finally, as before, I get 38.8, 38.9 on every scan, but they are nothing but blank screen. Are there channels there? What are 38.8, 38.9???

Thanx for any answers, in advance.

Do you have a rotator for your antenna? The tower for 53 is in the general direction of Circleville/ Chillicothe, so sometimes I have to move my antenna a bit in order to get it and the Columbus stations all at once.

As far as channel 38, I know WOSU uses actual 38 for virtual 34. I've had 38.4 and 38.5 come in, but they are always blank as well. Perhaps WOSU is playing around with adding more subchannels? I can sometimes get a PBS station in Dayton, which has a total of 5 stations, so it's definitely possible. Even with all teh extra stations, it seems the channels are of better quality than the 2 subchannels of WOSU.
