Today, we installed the most current version of vBulletin to further protect the site. In addition, we activated the reputation system that allows any user to give positive or negative reputation points to any user.

Your reputation rank is now displayed in your avatar area. The more blue's the better reputation you have. You can decide to give other users rep points for a good or helpful post--or give a negative point as an infraction for something.

When leaving a reputation, use the blue icon in the top right-hand corner of the post http://www.hdcolumbus.net/vb-hdtv/images/aria/buttons/reputation.gif. Once clicked, you can leave a positive or a negative and include a comment about why the rep was given (or just leave a smiley). As a user, you will be able to see your reps and comments received from others in your Control Panel.

For some of the more active members on HDC, I have already started you off with some blues based on your past input. Depending on your post count, date of registration, etc., you will have reputation power which allows you to give more rep--or take more away. So, the longer you are here, the more you post, and the more blues you receive, the more rep power you have. Admins are defaulted to giving 10 points only.

Get a blue from someone with some high rep power and your blues can add up pretty quick (you receive a new blue for every 10, 30, 60, etc.) until your darker blues fill in with a lighter blue (maxed out).

One last thing, if you hover over your blues you will receive a title indicating how close you are to the top...

Now, a blue will be rewarded by me to the first post in this thread!

Not that I'm looking for a blue or anything, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the work you and everyone else does on this site. I don't usually have too much to contribute, but I do visit every day to keep up on what is going on.
