I am planning on upgrading my theater room. I wanted to get some opinions from the best. I am looking to first sell my 65 inch Mitsu RP. After that I was looking at 3 TV's.
1. Mitsubishi 73 inch DLP 1080p.
2. Samsung 58 inch Plasma 1080p.
3. Samsung 52 inch LCD 1080p.
What does everyone think? Are there any other recommendations? I am also planning on a BlueRay. Should I go with PS3 for that?
Thanks!

Here's my $.02. I'd go with either 1 or 2. 1 if you want to have the biggest movie experience. 2 if you want the best overall pic. The Mits has a great pic, don't get me wrong, but the Sammy plasma will have the most accurate color out of the box and the best black levels of the two. You honestly can't go wrong with either, though. The LCD is cool too, but 1 and 2 are the best bang for the buck especially since you're used to a 65" tv.
For bluray, the PS3 is definitely the best player. It's super upgradable and super fast. The only bad thing about the PS3 is the price point since standalones are now falling below the $300 mark at this point. I personally have a PS3 and that's the only reason I have one. It's SD upscaling is superb as well.

HD sets are so close in video quality to most people that it really comes down to size, price, and features. The Mitsubishi is much larger than the other two, and I'm guessing if it's in your price range and has the features/inputs you need, you'll be the happiest with it. Plus, I'm sure with a visit from nicholc2, any of them will end up better video quality than most. ;)

I have the Samsung 58" its great! I could not be happier with it. I had nicholc2 come for a tune up and he did a great job on it. Just my 2 cents.

The prices have dropped so much on these things. I almost wish my 55 inch CRT would die already. Just kidding. The pic is still just fine believe it or not.
I would also consider the expected life of the set and the maintenance costs in my decision.

Good point. Look into bulb life and see what the bulb replacement prices are.

How about the Sony XEL-1 for $2500. It is the new OLED technology. But seriously, an 11 inch TV for that price, wow! I could put it across from the toilet. Thanks for the feedback it is between the plasma and the 73 inch DLP. I will start the wheeling and dealing soon.

jpdublin,
Going with either one would work out great. You'll have to upload some pics to share!

Well, I went with the 73 inch Mitsubishi 1080p DLP. It is so light I did the install myself and can move it with ease. The picture quality is impressive, especially with the BlueRay on the PS3. Thanks for all the advice.
nicholc2 - I will be contacting you early next year for your expertise in Calibration.
