View Full Version : Fluttery DD Audio
I noticed the Dolby Digital audio on WCMH-DT sounded strange over the weekend. First while watching a DVR'd episode of Law & Order: CI, then watching Sunday Night Football, live. The only way I can describe it is sort of fluttery. Dolby sound on the other networks seem fine. Did anyone else notice this or is it just me?

I noticed it today as well. Luckily for me I've not wanted to watch anything on that channel for a while. Hopefully they fix it soon.

yeah, I noticed it too last night for football. It was odd as the normal sounds seemed ok from what I could, but the announcers sounded pretty bad and any player interviews were almost un-listenable.

The bad audio is on both Over The Air broadcasts and Directv so it must be the network.
Don't notice it on local stuff like the news.

I noticed it during the football post/pre game show. Also, I saw the video flip between HD and SD at least twice.
The audio of player interviews during the 7:00 show had an echo.
I didn't mention anything at the time that I noticed this but my signal strength dropped in last month or two as well. I had been getting WCMH around 90 but now it's around 77. I don't get a lot of dropouts so I didn't think much of it.

Has anyone ever noticed it on ShowtimeHD and HBOHD during the closing credits of shows like Weeds, Entourage, and Trublood? I DVR those and others from those TW channels and notice the music at the closing drops in and out. It's always done it but only during the closing credits. I don't watch them in real time so I don't know if it's something with the DVR or TW.

I stand corrected. I forgot that channel 4 broadcasts, including network stuff, is uplinked to Directv after channel 4 gets it. So, the bad audio could very well be channel 4.
