Is there a card you can buy, put in your computer, then plug a TW or whatever Cable Card into so you can use media center software with HD cable channels?

I'm actually astounded this doesn't exist, but I think you can only get the technology in pre-built machines.

I'm not sure if this available or not. If not, it's likely due to them being afraid of people having the content available this readily on your PC. Everything these days comes back to DRM and the fear of piracy of content. They don't seem to care how much harder it makes it for people to use the content legally.

ATi makes one. Here (http://ati.amd.com/products/tvwonderdigital/index.html). It works with Windows Media Center in Vista since that's fairly protected with DRM.

I know of people who have gotten them working but expect to have just as many cable card issues as those with them in their tvs/tivos.

So, say I buy one of these off of eBay (http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZATIQ20TVQ20WonderQ3fQ20DigitalQ20CableQ2 0TunerQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ)....would it work with my current Windows XP/Vista PC?

That's my impression. I don't have one running at my house but it does what your asking.
