Wife & I would like to rent a HD projector for the upcoming OSU v. USC football game in september. We had attended a party last year where we watched the game projected up on a large white sheet on the side of a house - believe it or not it was FANTASTIC - we had planned to leave early to fly home to watch it in HD on our plasma - but we ended up staying.
Any clue as to where we'd go about renting a HD projector for a single nights use? Has anyone else done this & have any advice?
Any input would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of any place myself, but hopefully someone here has. I would call around to some of the specialized AV/Home Theater stores. If they can't help you, they may know someone who can.
There are some local shops mentioned in this thread that you could start with if you aren't familiar with any.

Come on Jim... You can't get off one of the 15 projectors you own for a night? :D

Never used them... But would be interested in a review if you decide to go with them.

The only one I'm not using right now weighs 150 lbs. and has a bum tube. He's welcome to borrow it, but don't think it's what he's looking for. ;)

thanks all for the warm welcome - 500th member huh? when should i expect my 'free HD media studio' to arrive?:D
thanks for the input - i'll give the suggested places a call & see if they can help me out - i'd prefer to keep my business local (columbus) area if possible.
i'll report back if there's any news on this front so others may benefit.
also, if you hear anything that may be of assistance in my journey, let me know!

lane - I can understand about local preferences... I'm not sure if Genesis Audio in Gahanna is mentioned in the thread Jim mentioned, but you may want to try them too.

Bartha Visual used to do consumer rentals when they were on Indianola. Not sure if that's still the case today. Really, at today's prices you'd be better off buying a projector than paying what any place would charge for a single-day rental.

actually had that conversation with my wife - but we weren't sure about prices.
how much would decent HD projector run? any preferences on brand/models etc. we are typically 'most bang for your buck' sort of people. we don't mind spending, but value is pretty important.
again, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would think you would be able to get a decent one for $700-1000 or even cheaper if you went used. These are going to be 720p models.
