Haven't had a new poll in awhile, so I thought I would start one about how you found the forum. Feel free to discuss!

Myself, I was a member in the .org days and helped nakedeye with trying to salvage the database their (without success). And after several months, decided to start this place. :hdlove:

I polled that I didn't remember, but maybe that's what I thought in general, I believe I was a part of the .org days. I'm not super active, but really have used the forum posts to help answer the many questions that arise. Thanks to the founders.

I was googling random phrases trying to find a place in Hilliard to buy a bulb for my TV and came across this place.

Took FOREVER to figure out the NoSpam answer to be able to create an account. One suggestion would be to turn it off for when someone is having problems registering and trying to send an e-mail to get help. I tried to register and didn't know the "right" answer so I was going to send in a help request about it, only to find out I had to answer it to send that in too!!

What was your guesses for the answer that didn't work? I'll get with Scott and we'll look at the process again. Thanks for the feedback. We had a huge run of spam a little while back and had to do something to slow it down.

Well, I checked in the FAQ about registering, I looked in the *** HD Columbus Forum News & Information FAQ *** thread, I looked in a couple different threads before I finally seen it posted.

I was actually putting in good answers too, but they weren't right.

"Everything HDTV in Columbus Ohio" was one that I tried

"To educate people on HD in Columbus, OH" was another one I tried

Obviously they are both wrong, but VERY GOOD answers I think!!!

I did manage to find it eventually (obviously) but I don't remember what thread I seen it.

Wow, you were giving answers that were too good. :D

I've given Scott some suggestions on how to improve the process, so we're going to work on it. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback and welcome to HDC! Sorry you had problems with NoSpam verification. I've changed it to a request to type in "HD" into the box now.

Don't make it too easy, just make it easier to find the information you need to type in.

I was more than willing and able to look for the answer, but if I had not dug as much I wouldn't have found it. It was not in a clear easy to find place and you may be losing some new members because of it.

The majority of the spammers we had came from bots, so the challenge is meant as a deterrent for them--they were even getting by captcha images. If we notice any change in the amount of spammers we start zapping, I'll make it something a little more difficult.

And just like that we had two spammers in a row  Trying out reCaptcha now, supposed to be better than the basic image verification.

There is nothing wrong with the NoSpam, but make it a bit clearer for a HUMAN to know where to look to find the answer.

As you see one of the answers I tried was the tagline right below the site name in the banner at the top of the page, obvious but not a gimme.

I searched "DVD vBulletin forum" in Google and found HDColumbus forum.
