I am new to this site and have done some reading into hooking up HD over the air. I have a Sony 50" Integrated LCD TV. Normal cable through time Warner. Right now, I only get HD channels PBS, CW, BBC. They come through on channels like 10.1, or 4.2. I bought an antenna amp HD $40.00 at radio shack, and plug it into my UHF, VHF coaxial spot next to the normal cable coaxial. I'm not getting anything extra with this antenna. I tried searching for more digital channels but still nothing happened. What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you hook up the antenna straight into the TV. Run a search through antenna then you should see (4.1, 4.2 NBC) (6.1, 6.2 ABC) (10.1 CBS) (28.1 FOX). Since you only have regular cable (no box) I am assuming, then you would have to toggle between cable and antenna to see the HD channels. It also depends upon your location as to what channels you will pick up. Others may offer some better advice. Good Luck.

Make sure when you scan you scan the antenna input and not the cable input..

You get BBC in HD?

Also, if it's like my Sharp Aquos, I have to tell it to scan digital channels separately from analog.

Yep that worked. I am getting ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, WOSU now! Thanks a lot, anything else I can do to improve the quality of the HD and maybe pick up the few other channels I am not getting. Also is there any way to know when a program is going to be broadcasted in HD so I know to switch over to my HD line?
THanks

Great! You're getting all of the OTA channels I receive--and I have a huge antenna hanging in my attic. On the local stations, most have their prime-time programming in HD, WOSU broadcasts in "HD" on their main station during the day and evening; but, they also have 4 sub-channels that degrade the quality of their main HD channel. WBNS and WCMH broadcast local news in HD in the morning and the evening, and I believe The Today Show in the morning on NBC is in HD as well.

TitanTV (http://www.titantv.com/index.aspx) is a great source for finding out what's on in HD. Just enter your zip, and programming will be labeled as "HD" if it's in HD.

Have fun, and welcome to HDC!
