Hi,
I am having TWC to come out to install their very basic analog cable service (27 channels) to the rest of my house that don't have dish receiver.

My question is, are the local HD channels available to be picked up by a QAM supporting HDTV card, such as FusionHDTV, even I am getting their basic service?

Or would the filter they put in for the basic service also filter out the digital feed? I suppose I could use FusionHDTV and record off antenna too, but really didn't want to mess with antenna to get consistent at this point.

Thanks.

You can get all the locals except FOX & ABC. If you do a scan you should get CBS, NBC and PBS in the clear.

I used to get CBS, but I can't find it anymore.

I get 4, 10, 34 and 53 with the most basic package you can get.

Time Warner - Cable Ready - Worthington.

By law, cable companies must provide all local channels, analog and digital, on their lowest level of service. That means you can get all of the digital broadcast stations on lifeline cable for about 13 bucks.

If you get "Basic" cable from Time Warner you get every analog channel below channel 27. All others are blocked by a filter. But, if you do an auto-scan on your digital TV you will get all of the local digital channels also. They are above the highest channel that the filter blocks, and they are unencrypted.

By law, cable companies must provide all local channels, analog and digital, on their lowest level of service.

So, technically, Sinclair should have to allow TWC retransmission of their digital signals per this law?

We've gotten off the subject. Bigtiger wants to know about getting HD with basic service. As zelig2 said, they're all there except ABC and FOX but you have to scan for them. I recall that the QAM channels for the digital content have been published on this forum a couple of times.
