Just curious why the Direct website only has NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS as HD locals. So how does the CW come in? Is it at least widescreen? The only show I watch is Smallville on this channel, but I will miss the HD version if this is the case.

Also, I'm assuming that the Direct "dish" will pick these channels up correct? I don't need an additional antennae?

Thanks all. Looking forward to my Direct installation the Saturday after Christmas. Sick and tired of messing with TWC/Roadrunner.

Got the HD DVR and the regular HD box. Chose the HD DVR package. Can't wait for SciFi, USA and FX in HiDef baby!

and an unrelated question...how can I change my username so it doesn't have my email addy displayed?

Yeah, 53 is still only SD right now, unfortunately. I also watch Smallville and I don't get the channel consistantly enough, so I have to watch it in SD. Hopefully they'll add it as a local HD soon, but not sure when.

53 does air HD content with some shows vie OTA. I have an indoor antenna hooked to my HR20 and H20 receivers and pick-up the station just fine. OTA picture is way better than thru D* sd picture. same for 51 and PBS HD.

so do you get the NBC, CBS, FOX, and ABC thru the dish...or will I need to use a separate antenna?

I have an indoor one I can use to catch CW.

I have NBC, CBS, Fox and ABC HD thru D* and I use the antenna too. With the OTA I can get the sub-ch of NBC (weatherPlus), ABC, and PBS. D* doesnot send out the sub-ch on those stations. Also come March Madness our local CBS multicasts games on the sub-ch over the OTA.

Yup, I still have my little OTA just for Smallville and Reaper.

I got the newer boxes, so no OTA possible. That's OK, though. I have a tuner on another TV and in my projector room. It gives me an excuse to take Thursday evenings off. If I can't, then I'll just catch it on HDNet in reruns. Thanks for all the info though.

Congrats PSU by the way...now the Big Ten is 2-1 in the bowl season (would be 3-0 if MSU hadn't turned the ball over a gazillion times!)
