I am about to make the switch from twc to directv. I live in southern ohio and my locals are considered Charleston WV. Local HD channels are not available in my area from directv. My question is will i still recieve the major networks(cbs, nbc, abc, fox) in HD from the New York and LA national feeds? They are listed on the websites tv listings as 81,82,83 and so on.

You will need to apply for a waiver (stating there is no HD available locally) from you local stations and submit it to DirecTV for approval.

Use this page to determine if you qualify:

I tried a few. You only have to put in a zip code. Athens and Lucasville qualify. Portsmouth does not. Ironton qualifies only for Fox.

Is there a similar program for Dish Network? I would love to be able to get cbs, abc, nbc and fox in HD via the satellite feed.

Thanks for the help!! I am eligible for abc,fox but need a waiver for nbc, cbs. I live about 75 miles south of columbus and about 90 miles northwest of charleston wv in jackson oh. Is there a OTA antenna strong enough to reach these distances?
