It pains me to have to say this (being a Bengals fan), but WBNS-DT has decided to broadcast the Browns vs. Colts game on Sunday, September 25--EVEN THOUGH the Bengals game vs. the Bears is being broadcast in HD and the Browns are not...
Here is a quote from the WBNS-DT website:
We've had many e-mails asking why we are not showing the Bengals. So far the Browns have had significantly more viewers than the Bengals game. Last week's Browns/Packers game had over 60% more viewers than the Bengals/Vikings. While we acknowlege that the Browns game had lesser competiton with other games on the air, the combined ratings from the Bengals and Steelers games last Sunday still are not significantly more than the Browns by themselves.
As with any business, WBNS-10TV most offer the product that the majority of our customers wish to see. At this point that is the Browns. This could change as the season goes along and we will monitor the ratings on a week by week basis and make our recommendations to CBS accordingly.
We've also had questions asking why we can't show a different team on our HDTV channels, ONN, or other outlets. The NFL will not allow us to do this. The teams that we are assigned must air on both our analog and digital channels. They will not allow games to air on any other venue.
We would love nothing more than to make ALL our viewers happy and show the Bengals, the Browns, and the Steelers. Unfortunately that is not possible.
We appreciate your understanding.
