WBNS has chosen to air the Browns/Dolphins game on 10/14 instead of Bengals/Chiefs! :D Thanks Frank! I think that this is the first time in a few years that the Browns got the nod. But I could be wrong. Heck, I kinda like the Bengals too, but if their continued losing puts the Browns on TV...

Does it really matter which they show? Either way it'll be in SD, not HD. It's CBS.

Actually, it looks like Bengals/Chiefs will be one of the 5 CBS HD games.

CBS really needs to do something about this for next year.

and FOX shows the Indy/TB game and NOT the Pitt/Sea game this week. They just switched it. Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton are showing Indy. Cinn. is showing Pitt. How does this make sense? Shouldn't they decide what games to show based on distance away from the market or ratings?

Looks like I might have to go to a bar and watch it.

That was the very reason I got Directv 7 years ago and all the NFL games in HD. I justified the amount I spent at a bar watching games and I am saving money and my liver.

Ha! I love the "liver" comment! When I switched to E* I considered D* and the Sunday ticket. But as a Browns fan I would be paying whatever the cost is now, $250-$300, to see the 3 or 4 games not televised locally. I couldn't justify the cost at $60-$90 per game. The NFL really needs a better model than that. In mixed markets like Columbus multicasting should be allowed. Bengals on 10.1, Browns on 10.2. Seems like a win for everyone. When the Browns aren't on TV the sports bars are way too crowded so one must get there incredibly early to get a decent seat. I used to do that but not any longer. I'm too busy for that crap. And the servers expect you to eat/drink the whole time that you're there.

Just a note on Indy/Pittsburgh distance, if you do mapquest directions, here are the distances from Columbus of the 5 closest NFL markets:

Cinci ~ 100
Cleveland ~ 140
Indy ~ 175
Pittsburgh ~ 185
Detroit ~ 205

And you can check out these maps every week:

They chose a SD game over a HD game? I love hockey (and college FB) more every day.

As Frank mentioned in April, the choice of games has nothing to do with HD vs. SD at this point. It has everything to do with the market share of teams and currently--and probably for the foreseeable future (with the promise of Dublin grad BQ in the mix)--the Browns will have the dominant market share in Columbus. As the Bengals have been better than the Browns in the past couple of seasons, the market share has grown; however, with the Bengals current record, coupled with a matchup between the hapless Chiefs, WBNS has to make the decision to go with what will draw the most viewers--while following NFL rules. I personally would rather see the HD broadcast; but, until HD consumers dominate the market, this will not likely happen. By the time it does, CBS will have the majority of their games in HD anyways, so, it's a moot point.
