I need pros and cons on both. My 16 yr old wants a 360 for Christmas, but I was thinking about getting him a 23" or 26' flat screen TV. He has a 10 yr old POS TV, so not too sure if I invest on the TV or 360. We already have a PS2 with lots of games. Also, I could see fights brewing with the 7 yr old over not being able to play the 360 if I got it. The 7 yr old is pretty good on the old PS2 with all the Call of Duty's and all the Football and Baseball games. I can see trouble with that. Is the 360 better than the PS3 or about the same. Look for opinions.

Thanks

Personally I have a 360. But I also have an original Xbox. IMO as of right now the only real diff between the two is more game selection for the 360. Since it's been out longer a lot of the game manufacturers have had time to perfect their games on it. Of course over time this won't be as big of a difference. For me the real thing is all my friends have a 360 as well and we do alot of online gaming via Live. That was the real selling point for me.

If you aren't planning on a lot of online gaming then it might come down to games and what game choices you're interested in. That's really where you should probably make your choice. Hardware wise, they are very similar. 360 is still a bit cheaper of course, but PS3 will probably drop their price come christmas too.

My $0.02.

It all comes down to games right now, and the PS3 doesn't have anything that interests me that isn't available elsewhere. I generally buy all the consoles so that I can play whichever game I want, but haven't even been that tempted towards the PS3 yet. I've been very happy with the 360, except for a few hardware issues. They are shipping redesigned consoles now that are supposed to fix those issues. But even with them, I still love my 360.

We have a 360 hooked up to our projector. It's awesome. My 15 year-old loves it. He had 2 buddies over playing Halo3 the other day.

I have a PS3, which is great. But it seems like there just arent any games out. I think im gonna get an Xbox 360 soon.

i have all three systems, 360, ps3, and wii...

here's my breakdown:

360: great for shooters and sports. currently the best game library. IMO, the 360 has the best controller. i have the newer "falcon" model and the fans and the drive is very loud. i've had 1 hardware failure and needed to send my xbox in for service and so have most of my friends. 1 person i know, has sent it in 4x. online service is the best but costs about $40-$50 a year.

PS3: as far as value of the system goes this is the best HD value if you include the blu-ray player and also has wi-fi. i think the controller needs an update as its been the same for a while and my hands hurt after holding it for a while. software quality and titles are catching up to the 360 but are still a little behind. online play is not as good but free.

Wii: fun if you have friends over, good party system. games look horrible if you compare to the other systems and not so fun by yourself. IMO, it has the worst software library as it consists mostly of crap that was rushed out the door to make a buck. online play is free but practically worthless.
