I had the "optical block" of my almost 2 year old Sony R60XBR1 (SXRD HDTV). The "Optical Block" on these have been having issues. It had gotten so bad that there have been class action lawsuits and Sony finally extended the Optical Block warrenty for these TV's until October 31, 2008. The issue manifests itself in a few ways by either causing green blobs or yellow stains on the screen. Mine was trouble free until about a month ago when I first started seeing yellow stains on the top and in other parts of the screen.
Anyway, I took a few pictures for those interested of what it looks like...

I had the work done by Mercury-Keller here in Columbus http://www.mercurykellertv.com/ who is a authorized Sony repair shop.
They did a really good job. The repairman took around 45 minutes to complete the work plus another 5-10 for testing/diagnostics.
