Anyone every try to pull in a station from Lima or from Cleveland? Dayton or Cinci won't work for the programming that I'm looking to view. I've read that the absolute max distance to pull in OTA is roughly 100 miles. So Cleveland sounds out of the question, although maybe the tower locations are on the South and/or West side of town?

Is it even worth a shot for me to put a huge antenna in my attic and point it in the direction of Lima or Cleveland? I'm 79 miles from Lima via roads. So I figure it's about 70 miles in a straight line. I'm located near Olentangy Liberty HS.

Yeah, you guys guessed it. I'm trying to find a way to watch the Browns when WBNS decides to show the Bengals instead. Without having to switch to D* and shell out the ransom for the NFL package for 3 or 4 freakin' games each year. Heck maybe WLMO in Lima doesn't even air the Browns, I don't know. But I'm willing to try.

No sure about the attic. May have to be outdoors and up high on the roof. Good luck. I feel your pain on the Browns!

Maybe you should try to get a Youngstown station. I believe they have a CBS affiliate. http://www.tvfool.com is by far better than antennaweb at telling you what stations you should be able to receive but they still might be a little conservative. If you have a high mast and a good antenna you might be able to pull in something from the North.

And if they doesn't work I have been on sopcast.org recently picking up feeds of games on the net. Quality is kind of youtube like but it is better than getting screwed over by the NFL for not showing an Ohio team in an Ohio market.

Cool. Thanks for the advice on the sopcast.org. I'm with you. Better to see the game in poor quality than to get screwed over by NFL/DirectTV greed. I wonder how long before the NFL shuts it down though. I think that Y'town is way too far away for me to pick up one of their stations. Living in Columbus really stinks from an NFL viewing perspective.

And I must say a big "gee, thanks..." to wbns, cbs and to the nfl for deciding to air Browns/Patriots on 10/7.

Considering Pittsburgh will be on Fox that day and the Bengals have a bye that week. Personally, I have no idea why Pittsburgh gets more scheduling consideration than Detroit or Indy does. Aren't they all out of state and about the same distance from Columbus? Given the choice I would rather see Peyton Manning play.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but Steeler fans won't miss a game on broadcast TV until week 11 of the season. And I thought that this was Ohio, not Pennsylvania. Silly me.

I'll check out sopcast.org. Probably my best option unless I want to erect a huge antenna about 100 feet high. My homeowners' association would love that. Or I could pay the $60/game fee to D*, assuming 4 missed broadcast games. I don't see myself doing that.

Hey aaronod, I installed the software off of sopcast.org. So how do the NFL broadcasts work? Will they just appear in the list on the right side of the screen on Sunday? Do I need to sign up on the site or can I just stay anonymous? Sorry, I'm new to the P2P TV stuff.

Regarding the Steelers being on TV...WBNS did a survey a couple of years ago and found that about 1/3 of football fans in Columbus are Steelers fans, split even with Browns and Bengals fans. I happen to be a Steeler fan (my family is from Pitt) and I enjoy watching them when they are on. The Buffalo game was not aired in week 2 so I have misssed one game on brodcast tv :D. I do think it is bull that Ohio fans are missing their favorite teams play because the NFL won't let them simulcast games.

For reference I always look at http://the506.com/nflmaps or titantv to see what will be on this week and next. Some of the games in certain areas make no sense.

Hope this info helps you watch your team.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I forgot about week 2. You got me there. I totally agree with you on the simulcast/multicast issue. I fired off a note to the NFL about that issue today. I'll let you know what they say. Probably nothing.

Thanks for the links. I had heard about the first one but not the others.

Must be lots of eastern ohio and western pa transplants here in Columbus accounting for the steeler fans. I'm from eastern ohio myself.

Guys, let's keep the gray area talk to PMs. I've already had some warnings from suits in the past, don't want another one :D I'm not going to remove the links, I'll leave that to the discretion of Aaron.
