Wanted to pass along that on Thursday, September 13th, Time Warner Cable will be moving 10TV's HD channel designation from 721 to 710.

Channel assignments will remain the same on Insight and WOW.

Please pass the word.

Thanks!

Doug.

I recall getting a notice of the change in the mail. I believe channels 4, 34, and 53 will be moved also to 704, 734, and 753. They seemed to have changed their philosophy for assigning the digital channel number from 7+OTA frequency (i.e. 738 for WOSU-DT) to 7+OTA virt. channel. Channels 6 and 28, which were only added this year, already use the new scheme.

So does this mean we're going to have to go through and redo all of our established DVR shows? Or will they keep that in mind when they do the switch and make some sort of automatic change to passport?

Wow. That's great news. This has been one of my pet peeves for awhile. I'm glad they're fixing the consistency issue.

Now if only they'd map the analog feed to the respective channels (for the extra TVs without a box). It is confusing, especially for the non-tech people in the house, to have the channels map differently between TVs with/without a box. I've considered switching to WOW just for that reason, although I like my current RoadRunner service.

Hopefully my Tivo Series 3 will get updated soon after the change happens.

It's done. And thankfully all of the series that were already set to record were updated to the new channel numbers automatically.

I checked my TiVo 3 this morning at about 6:45 a.m. It still had the old channel mappings. I'm guessing that I should not reboot or redo guided setup since it could screw things up if it were to get the new mapping without the Tivo service knowing about the change. So I guess it's best to wait for a message on the tivo that my channel lineup has changed, then try a reboot if the mapping aren't already fixed.

They have 4, 6, and 10 on different analog channels because of ingress issues. You may notice that the cable channels 4, 6, and 10 have a ghost of the OTA channels on them. They put low rated stations on these channels because of this, and put 4, 6, and 10 on 7, 9 and 5 instead. Converter boxes can put any channel on any channel, so it's not an issue if you have a converter box.

I've had my Tivo HD for a little over two weeks. Last week TW came out and installed a MStream cable card and everything was working quite well. Looks like sometime Friday I received the new channel mappings from TW. (NBC is now on 704, CBS is 710, etc..) I have yet to receive an updated guide listing from Tivo however. Anyone else out there have the new channel mappings AND the updated guide listing from Tivo?

*** UPDATE ***
Just about 30 min after posting this I get a message from Tivo saying it has a change to the lineup. My initial thoughts are that I once again asked a question where if I just waited, the situation would have resolved itself. Alas, no. A ton of Music choice channels moved around and some other odds and ends, but nothing about the broadcast channels.

I still do not have the new channel mappings or the new Tivo guide listings. So it is not causing me any direct issues since things match up. Although there is the emotional stress of not knowing when my season passes will get screwed up ;)

I called Tivo today and told them about 704, 710 and 734 (and the lack of guide data). A rep checked into and said that the change should happen this Saturday (Sept 22nd). So I would suggest forcing a connection after 6PM on Saturday to see if the channel updates happen.

UPDATE: As of the evening of Sept 22nd they still have not updated these channels. Damn!! My season passes on those 3 channels won't be recorded until they update this! Especually bad considering this coming week all the new premiere episodes.
