I have RR through Time Warner in Columbus. I went to the columbus site today to see if they had posted any news about the big 10 network, and I saw an ad flash by talking about how RR had upped it's premium service to 15mb down and 768kb up. Standard service went up to 7mb up I believe.
When did this happen? Is anyone using it? I am a premium subscriber, how can I check to ensure it's working as advertised? I haven't noticed a major bump in speed recently. If anything I have felt the burn of the upload speeds since for the first time ever I started posting pictures online.

It should pretty much happen automatically. If you want to test your speed to see, go to http://speakeasy.net/speedtest
That's a good site to test your speed. If you don't see somewhere in the range of 15000 or so (being a premium sub) then unplug your modem for at least 60 secs and then plug it back in. That will reset it and should bring down the new speed config.

I saw that earlier and did the "unplug your cable modem" thing. I have been testing on and off all week, and I see 10,000-12,000 downsteam and betweeen 700-800 upstream now up here in Delaware County.

You have to contact them and pay an additional 9.95/month to be connected to the 15mb RR.

You should have gotten email from Time Warner with instructions for recycling power on modem. Mine's dated 8/23.

I don't even know what my roadrunner email is, I have never used it or even logged into it. I just use the connection and that is about it. =)
I tested when I got home and it must have been automatic, because I haven't reset my modem in awhile. I am getting about 11500 down and 740 up, which is close enough considering other users, and overhead for wireless, etc. So good show Roadrunner!
I did a search and other markets got an upload increase to 1mb and even 2 in some places. 768 ain't bad, but I have been uploading alot of photos lately, 2 would be very nice.

I'd switch back to Road Runner if I could get 2 up on a residential contract.

I noticed the bump in speed a few weeks before they sent out the emails. Since the email, I've noticed more frequent outages in RoadRunner service. I'd rather have 99.99% 5 mpbs than 99.90% 7 mpbs. 99.9% uptime is a 2 minute outage every 8 hours.

I rarely, if ever have an outage in my area. I have not experienced this at all, it's been pretty solid the past 2 years that I have had TW. Insight on the east side was a little flakier, but still not bad.

When I first got RoadRunner a few years ago, I had constant outages. They finally traced it to a bad wire somewhere under a road. Once it was fixed, I've had pretty steady service with very few outages in the last year.
A misbehaving NAT router can cause problems as well.
I have RR Biz, 4mbps/2mbps, had it for 5 years, and while it costs a LOT per month, it's been rock stable. They just replaced my Ubr900 CISCO router with an AMBIT because it died - my first real failure in that 5 year period. During that 5 years the only time I've been down is when someone hit a telephone pole around the corner and took out the line.
The problem with Business Class is that they DO NOT increase the download speeds when they increase them for Residential service - but, we're in different subnets, don't have the restrictions, and we get 4 hour onsite service if there is a problem.
I would love to have 7-15mbps inbound, but they don't offer it in B/C cable.

Mark we have RR business class too. I recently talked to our account rep and was told that higher speeds are coming soon for business class. No official announcement yet though.

What kind of prices do you guys pay for the business class RR services with 4/2?

We were paying $207.96 for 4/2. We just upgraded to the platinum level which is 6/2 for around $240 per month.

If you have Insight Road Runner I just noticed they bumped to 7Mbit down so it's time to reset those modems to get the latest bump. Although, my upload didn't budge at all, it's still 512. :( Oh and my latency went from 80-100ms to a fairly decent 14ms average.

Insight did not bump business class apparently (what I have at work).

I figured I would use this thread instead of starting a new one.
Anyway, did you folks hear about Road Runner Turbo? For only $10 more a month (from the 7Mbps service) they bumped up the download speed from 7.0Mbps to 15Mbps and the upstream increases to 768Kbps (at least mine did, the website says 512Kbps max). I guess it is like what their Business Class was. The cool thing is that when I called Time Warner the girl in customer service looked into what other services I have (I have 2 digital cable boxes, 2 cablecards, HD Gold, HBO, Showtime etc....) and she worked out some sort of deal where I didn't have to pay any extra a month. So I got the speed boost for free.
I used speedtest.net to check my speed before I called them to upgrade and it was indeed close to 7Mbps. Then after I got off the phone with them I reran the test and got over 14Mbps (I didn't even have to reset my cable modem).
Ironically when I first bought Road Runner (March 1998) there were no speed caps and I think it was 15Mbps back then too, plus there were less users which meant it was even faster (and $40 at the time).

That does sound like a good deal (free is always good). However, I'd be more interested in a bigger upstream boost, say 2 Mbps. It would be useful for multiple people playing from my house on xbox live or for when I remote desktop to a home box.

Yeah, I'm with you. I'd be happier with more upload speeds myself. I game with my 360 alot and downloads aren't the issue there. Uncap the upload speed!

If they uncapped or at least raised the upload speed to 2Mb/s I'd switch over from DSL in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I have Insight, and their upload speed kills me. I would switch for 768Kbps, and for 2Mbps, would give a figurative limb. Unfortunately, I'm in an Insight zone; however, WOW has been digging up my backyard recently. I wonder what their upload speeds are.

Their top tier is 6mb down and 1mb up according to their website.

I get 6Mb/s up and 768Kb/s down from AT&T DSL in my neighborhood. From the last test of my line it looked like I could get 10/1Mb in theory if they enabled it. I believe U-Verse can give you an option to have that download/upload rate. I wish I could just add that service.
