I have a 52" 1998 Wide Screen projection TV. Last night we lost picture and from what I can hear, it sounds like the HV coil is winding up - like a ramp up sound and then it starts over every few seconds... No sign of picture..
I called Thompsons, they want $95 just to come out and that's not applied to the fix if there is one. Another shop suggested that the TV was a write-off because they figured one of three boards, each costing about $500, and that if something else broke after spending $500 on parts and then labor, that it would have been a waste of money...
So, anyone got a reliable, good, trustworthy shop they would suggest I call?
After that, since this 52" TV is a monster (large), what would you replace it with in the $800-$1200 range - I don't really care about HD as I don't have anything HD yet...
