View Full Version : TiVo HD & TWC CableCARDs - Pixelated Channels?

I just setup my new TiVo HD over the weekend, and got my two single-stream cablecards last night. Long story short, the tech had no idea how to install the cards, and had never heard of TiVo... so I did most of the work. (Not that there was much to do, just get the IDs and SNs and hit the two cards.)

Anyway, the basic CC configuration went OK; it wasn't until the tech left that I realized that most of the upper digital/HD channels (~100-155, 714+) are all severely pixelated and have erratic audio. --ONLY through the second CC.

I called TWC and had them "hit" both cards again, then had them "init" the cards, (the lady on the phone was kind enough to just go with what I asked her to do.) that didn't work. I removed the 2nd CC and then inserted it again and went through hitting the cards again. Somehow, the cards swapped issues, the first card showed pixelated channels now, and then second card became fine.

I removed both cards and went through the installation again exactly as TiVo describes. Hit them again. Same thing. CC #2 upper channels are pixelated. CC #1 is fine. I doubt that it's one of the cards or one particular slot since at one point, the issue swapped cards, even though I never physically swapped slots. Sorry if this is confusing.

I've read about a number of people who have similar CC #2 pixel issues with the new TiVo HD, but no answers. Anyone have any ideas? I have a tech coming out again this Friday, but I HIGHLY doubt he'll have a resolution for me.

And thanks to George for directing me to this site.

Yeah, there's a lot of problems it seems with the second cablecard causing pixellation issues, I even started a thread there about the issues I've been having with the unit. I know some stuff about the issues (audio drop issues as well) but I can't post it in public. I think you'll be seeing an update soon that should fix some of these issues.

Looks like they're rolling out the update now for this.
