Nano-Proprietary holds patents to some of the technology behind <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/SED/">SED</a>, and licensed it to Canon in 1999. Canon then brought Toshiba in as a manufacturing partner, and <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/02/23/judge-favors-nano-proprietary-in-canon-licensing-quandary/">Nano filed suit</a>.
