Hi all. New to these boards, and recently jumped on the HD bandwagon. And I am glad I did.
But I do have a question about ESPN HD, channel 785 on TW. In the settings, when I have 480, 720, and 1080 enabled, I get 3 panels all showing ESPN HD. But if I de-select 720, ESPN is shown as it should be. My converter is a SA 8300 HD DVR.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to the forum lazer! I'm not too familiar with TWs STBs, but I'm sure TheCableGuy or one of our other TW subs will be able to help you out.

Not sure if I understand the 3 panels thing, without seeing a picture, but I would wager to say something doesn't like 720p format. If you are connected to the TV using the component wires, check the input on the back of the TV and see if it supports 720p. If it doesn't state on the input label, consult your owners manual.

Yeah, it sounds like a format compatibility issue to me. If your TV only accepts 1080i, set the cable box to output 1080i and let the box do the sideconversion for you from 720p to 1080i.

Here is a picture. The manual says the TV supports 720. So who knows.

I'm guessing that your TV (which looks like a CRT?) doesn't accept a "pure" 720p signal.
Just set your box to 480p, 1080i enabled, DISable 720p, and enjoy. This is fairly common in CRT TV's.

Ummm...I believe that the 720p processing unit in your TV is POSESSED!

It's kind of fun to watch ESPN like that every now and then, at least for a couple minutes. Then it gets annoying.
I just find it weird that this problem would only happen on that station. Everything else is fine.
I turned off the 720 setting on the STB, and everything is great. Thanks for all the replies!
