In the past few weeks I've noticed a dramatic dropoff in the signal strength of the WOSU stations. I am currently unable to pull a signal on any of the channels on any receivers. Has anyone else experienced (or noticed) as much? Has WOSU changed something recently?

I haven't noticed this but since WOSU is so out of the way compared to the others, at least within the outerbelt, it's not really surprising.

Did you check all of your connections?

I've also noticed dropouts, pixellation, and "Searching for signal" while watching WOSU. I attribute some of it to leaves appearing on a cherry tree between me and the antenna.

I also wonder if the new CSN (Columbus Sports Network) transmitter, on the same tower and on channel 32 might be related.

I am in Hilliard and still have the same signal strength.

I called and spoke to the WOSU-TV engineer yesterday - quite a personable fellow - he's very interested in getting reception reports. He's had a number of similar reports of signal dropout and is looking into the problem.

I told him about hdcolumbus.net -- he may be lurking here to see what we're discussing, so feel free to report on any problems you may have.

If you want to contact him, go to WOSU.ORG, get to the contact page, call the main phone number, and mention that you're having a problem receiving their OTA HD signal. They'll connect you to him.

I'll let him decide if he wants to introduce himself to the group.

Strength appears to have been boosted. I've gone from signals in the 12-15 range to 60-65 on a couple of long runs. They have also seemed to repair a glitch whereby the SAP audio was incorrectly mixed.

Living downtown columbus, I've have no trouble in picking up WOSU 34.1-3. I'm getting about on avg. 70% signal strengh.

Yes I have the same problem I no longer can pick up any sub-channels.

Yes I have the same problem I no longer can pick up any sub-channels.

If you can get the main WOSU-HD, then you should get the sub-channels. They are time-shared out of the main signal.

I've gotten nothing on WOSU OTA since last week. Anything going on there? Anything changed?

It was working for me last night, but I can't seem to lock on right now. Signal is pretty weak. Have no idea what's going on.

Signal seems to be better for me now. Not much stronger, but my tuner can easily lock on.

Anyone else?

No problems for me on the west side of town. A friend of mine was having issues with OSU DT on the east side, but a squirrel had chewed through the coax to his roof mounted antenna. After replacing with a fresh RG-6 run, all is fine on the east side too.

For the past three or four days I have been getting constant break ups on my Insight cable. I have no idea if it is PBS or Insight that is having the problem. It is driving me crazy! BTW it is only the digital channels 34.1-34.3.

Greetings Group, I am in Lancaster. For the past 2-3 weeks, my Ch 34.1- 34.2- 34.3- have been fading out in the evenings. Almost during the entire prime time. What would cause this? Do the seasons and /or weather affect digital reception? For instance, I have a bank of trees to the northwest of my house and when they are filled with leaves (summer and fall) , it seems I have more times of lost signal. But this current loss is in Winter- with all the leaves off the trees. What might be causing this? I have an indoor "attic" antenna. I even tried adjusting it during the blackout and nothing brought the signal in. Any ideas?

DrMark I live 2 miles west of Junction City and about 10 miles from you on
Rt 37. I haven't had any signal issues with the 34 channels....We have satellite, but I have a 4 bay antenna with a pre amp to watch the over the airs and a Zenith converter. The antenna is 30 feet in the air. So I'm not sure what's going on at your locale.

Since your antenna is indoors, so to speak, it can't be water in your coax lead-in. Could it be the rain on the trees reducing you signal just a bit to make it drop out?
