I have my 8300 hooked up via a digital connection to my Outlaw Audio preamplifier. Usually, it indicates a Dolby Digital signal when I listen to Music Choice. Last week, the preamp was showing reciept of a pure PCM signal that was not DD. On my Outlaw, I have more audio processing options for PCM signals (i.e., I can process the signal through DTS NEO, etc.), so I was really pleased by this development. Now, it's back to DD, and I am wondering what happened. I thought the 8300 only sent out a DD signal. Is that true, or can it be told what signal to send?

Also, on Music Choice, the signal is often lost for a moment that can at times make Music Choice unlistenable. This happened with both a Sony preamp and my Outlaw preamp, so I know it is not the receiver. Any ideas why it may be doing this?

Thanks!

Ok. If no one knows the answer, would someone be kind enough to flip to Music Choice on TW with their 8300 to see what signal you are getting (PCM or Dolby Digtal)? If you are getting a PCM signal, then I would have a bit more info. THANKS!

My receiver indicates a PCM signal on MusicChoice. Oddly enough, my problem seems to be the opposite of yours, since I no longer appear to get a dolby digital signal from my 8300.

Dolby 2.0 on the music channels. My 8300 seems to lose the Dolby output setting every once in a while and I have to go in to settings and reset it.

Thanks for the input. I am going to muck around with my settings this weekend and report back.

I have the same problem with my 8300HD audio needing to be reset. I found if you use the DIAG mode you will need to select digital output again.

Do you guys ever call TW about these issues, and what is being said?

TW is coming out tomorrow to check it out. I'll let you know what he says.

I figured it out (at least for the problem I have). The 8300 audio output must be switched to either PCM or DD in settings. I programmed a macro on my remote to automatically switch between the two depending on what I need.
