WBNS-DT10, and our new HD newscast, 10TV News HD, would like to invite the members of HD Columbus to an exclusive reception to preview our HD news before we debut on April 2.

We welcome all members and guests to join us on Thursday, March 29, at 7:00pm.

YOU WILL NEED A TICKET TO ENTER! To obtain your ticket, please e-mail viewerservices@10tv.com, and a ticket will be e-mailed back to you. Please print the ticket out and bring with you to the station.

We will have refreshments, station tours, and you will view a rehearsal of 10TV News HD before the debut.

The reasons for this reception are two fold:

1) To thank HD Columbus for their loyalty and collaboration over the years.
2) To solicit feedback before we debut.

On hand will be engineers, directors, news anchors, and, of course, management to take the lumps that we're sure to get. :)

We hope you can join us at our studios:

WBNS-10TV/WBNS-DT10
770 Twin Rivers Drive
Columbus, Ohio 43215
614-460-3700

Due to the size constraints of our studio, we must cap the list at 50 and it is first come, first served.

We hope you can join us!

Director of Operations

Let's limit this to members of HD Columbus, first--of course, that doesn't mean that your spouse couldn't register here ;)

Forum Members -

I guess I would like to add that this is a great opportunity for your HDTV enthusiast voices to have a chance to be heard--plus I'd like to meet some of you in person.

I encourage everyone that would like to attend to grab a ticket!

The ticket won't download, it stops at 24% and stays there. Anyone else having this problem?

Frank,

Thanks so much for the invite for this exciting HD launch for WBNS. The value that you have been bringing HD Columbus has not been going unnoticed. I will be making the switch over to 10TV News-HD!

Thanks Frank!

Thank you all for the quick response. We've got 13 registered so far. I'm sure we'll see more as people check in on the site.

We'd be glad to discuss any HD issues as best we can. Our Engineering Managers, News Managers, and Broadcast Operations Managers will be there as well. I've also asked one of our Senior Directors to join us so he can share with you the differences in directing in HD. Also, our Art Director can share how we're doing graphics.

Out of respect for all the managers that are helping me out, I'd be glad to discuss the Multi-casting issue with someone one on one but ask that we not focus on that during the public sessions. It really doesn't impact the other departments.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

I was wondering the same thing last night... are higher rez weather graphics part of the HD Newscast?

All,

We have plenty of room so please sign up.

Currently I have 15 people on the list. If you'd like to bring friends, we'd love to have them. We just ask that we can have them on the list if at all possible (keeps my security department happy :))

Thanks!

Turn out is not too bad. We're at 33. We might also have the head of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters join us.

Sat through our first rehearsal for 10TV News HD and we're looking pretty good. Looking forward to having everyone join us. Seats still available so let me know if you'd like to join:

The girlfriend is worried about what she's going to wear. What type of dress would be appropriate?

One of Borat's thong swimwear things would be OK.

Two questions for tonight:

1) How long do you think the party/shindig will last?

and for snodgrass and myself

2) Can we bring cameras?

It was nice to see everyone at 10TV tonight. That was pretty cool. Maybe we can discuss some of the things we learned in this thread since I noticed people were sort of splintered into individual groups talking to the various 10TV employees.

One of the interesting things that I think it was Jamie had told me is that Time Warner compresses the heck out of the signal and that there is a big difference between the OTA (over the air) broadcast and what comes through Time Warner. I might have to hook up my antenna again (after TW started carring the ABC and FOX HD channels I no longer needed it) to my TIVO Series 3 HD DVR and compare it to what comes through Time Warner.

Great to see everyone there tonight. I think we had a pretty good turnout for a local forum site. I also assumed their would be other people there, when in fact in wsa just the HDColumbus people and then people that worked there. The night was interesting and I think everyone enjoyed it. I'm going to start a new thread so that everyone can post their pictures as well as comment on their thoughts.
