I live in the Hilliard area and pull in WSYX OTA to get the HD signal. Reception is great. I had a few audio drop outs last night during the Super Bowl. Nothing significant. However, my audio for the Stones performance was below average. I was wondering if anyone else had a similiar experience. The Stones performance sounded somewhat muffled with reduced volume and tone. When the audio mix cut to the sound of the audience appluading/cheering the Stones, the sound seemed to return to "normal". The Dispatch noted that the Stevie Wonder/Motown medley had mike problems. I haven't read anything similar re: the Stones halftime show.

I heard it too and I'm guessing it was either a problem with the setup of their sound system, or in the recording of it from ABC. The only way to know for sure would be to ask someone who was there live and see if they heard it.

I thought both the beginning musical performances and the halftime show had really awful audio problems. I was watching the game at a friend's house--his feed comes from Insight. Because I was curious, I checked my recording when I got home (HD signal OTA), and it too sounded really bad.

I noticed the same thing, it was horrible. I listened to a couple of discussions of the show this morning and no one mentioned anything about the audio. It made me wonder if it was a 5.1 issue. Maybe it sounded OK in SD.
As to dropouts, I heard that the censors had to edit a couple of the Stones numbers.

I think it was a 5.1 issue. I noticed that my receiver was not showing it 5.1, yet I went to another room with an SD signal that sounded normal. In my opinion either way was not worth watching anyway, plus the Stones looked like Scarecrows on stage (no matter if it was in HD or not).

I thought the audio was not good, and I watched it SD.

I was listening to Howard Stern this morning on Sirius Satellite Radio and they also commented about the Stones sound issues.
I also bought an antenna (Radio Shack model 15-1878) and was able to receive WSYX just fine on my Sony SXRD (R60XBR1) with very few dropouts.
