View Full Version : Another TW CableCard screwup?

Sometime between 1AM and 7AM Tuesday, 6-Mar-2007 both the cablecards in my Tivo S3 stopped seeing Time Warner channels 700, 701, 721, 746, 750, 751, 775, 776, 777, 778, and 785. In the evening of 6-Mar I also lost 714. In other words, the only HD channels I have are: 706, 728 and 780. All the SD channels seem to be working. I called on Tuesday evening and was told that they were aware of the problem and it would be fixed shortly.

As of 2PM on the afternoon of 7-Mar, the channels are still dead. Darkfiber told me he is not seeing the problem.

My wife called TW this afternoon to see what was up and they said that there is a new problem today causing the missing channels and that yesterday's problem was related to a DST update. The same channels are missing so I wonder if it's actually a new problem.

*sigh*

Is anyone else seeing this?

As of 7 pm Wed. 3/7/07, I am also missing many channels on both my cablecards on my TiVo 3. The only HD channels I get are 706 and 728. I am missing all the rest: 714, 721, 738, 746, 750, etc. The interesting thing is that a few weeks ago when I had a similar problem, it was 706 and 728 that I was missing, and I could get all the other HD channels. So just the opposite now.

The last time this happened, I had to reboot my TiVo before I could get the channels back. A reboot today did not fix it though.

I noticed that Milalwi is in Hilliard as well as me. It may be related to the equipment (headend) that services our area. I know that the headend that services me is located in New Rome, based on the troubleshooting that a TW tech did a few weeks ago when I was having issues. That's where the problem was last time.

I tried calling TW this evening, but gave up after being on hold for half an hour. Tried again later and gave up after another 15 minutes.

This is becoming a real pain.

Yeah, I've tried rebooting, mainly to force the CableCards to reinitialize, but it has had no effect. As of 10PM Wednesday, I'm still missing the channels.

I'm inside I-270. I'm not actually in Hilliard proper, it's just the easiest way to explain where I live. I doubt that my headend is in New Rome, but I suppose it's possible. I would think that darkfiber's headend is New Rome, as he's much closer to that area than me. He is not having any of these problems, at least he wasn't the last time I talked to him.

The "Integration Ban" can't happen soon enough for me.

What is an "integration ban"? Pardon my ignorance but we went Satellite 7 years ago and haven't looked back.

I am also in the Hilliard area (by the Mejiers on Rome-Hilliard Rd.

I got bit by this on Wednesday, March 7th. My last good recording on my Tivo Series 3 ended around 4:00PM. I had a blank recording at 8:00PM and when I got home around 2:30AM on March 8th my TIVO was trying to record from TNTHD and it was blank as well.

I called Time Warner and they said they are aware of the problem but had no ETA on when it will be fixed.

I noticed on TW website that they were doing Daylight Savings upgrades on March 6th between 1AM and 6AM. They specifically mentioned both cable boxes and CableCards. I wonder if this is the result of that?

I think Milalwi (http://hdcolumbus.net/vb-hdtv/member.php?u=207) is referring to when the Cable Companies must use CableCards in all their boxes (and to not use boxes with the decryption already built in). I think the idea is that the Cable Companies will be forced to better support CableCard. I think the Cable Co's have to start using cable boxes with cablecards in the summer. Maybe with more CableCard customers there will be more screaming when they have issues and they will put more effort into fixing the problems in a timely fashion.

My channels were all back when I got home tonight (3/8) at 7:00 pm. I did not have to reboot the TiVo.

Mine were working when I check around 4PM. Missed 2 HD episodes of "Alias" on TNTHD though.
