View Full Version : More disappointment

Despite CBS' efforts this season to provide extensive HD golf coverage, WBNS has completely undermined these actions by repeatedly failing to air the HD broadcasts locally. Some weekends they pre-empt Saturday coverage for second- and third-tier Big 10 basketball coverage, and today they aired the final hour plus of the Nissan Open in 4:3 SD.

It's just disappointing...

It was a network problem. It started out in HD then fell back to SD.

There was a brief period of HD outage at the network level, but in most other markets it was restored.

anybody know if local newscasts WBNS will go into HD sometime in the next few days or few weeks?

On the news this morning (Sunday) 10TV reported that HD news would start on April 2 at 5:00 pm.

No point in starting another thread...

The last half-hour of The PGA Championship was reduced to SD.

What was your source? I may not have been paying attention, but I don't recall losing HD from the TW feed.

The OTA feed went to SD for me.

I had it on the DirecTV local feed and it went to SD on me as well.

It was the local OTA feed. The national feed remained HD. Does anyone know if you can get the East and West National HD network feeds via DirecTV? I know you can get the locals that way but that would just replicate the OTA conditions.

Not now--since they have added local HD in our area. In the past, you could get a waiver through the local station stating that you could not pull the channel in OTA--and even then, DirecTV would turn down more often than not. If you were approved, you would only pick up your market's feed (in our case, east coast), not both. If the affiliate is owned and operated by the broadcasting company, you are able to pick up a your market feed with your package without submitting a waiver (I still pick up the east coast NBC feed even though WCMH is no longer O&O).
