Here is a review and reactions from all over the country (and Guatemala) about Columbus' own Yambeka speakers.

http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=87013

There were alot of naysayers until people from all over got their speakers and replied with their impressions.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of these before. Here is a little more info. For this price, I may have to pick up a set just to see how they are and maybe use them in a second system somewhere.

Good find. I too think that I'll be picking up a set.

I bought a 5 speaker set two weeks ago from an ad I saw on Craigslist in Columbus. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but these speakers are very good. Im surprised by the speaker clarity and overall quality. One of my best buys for the new year so far.

Been looking at these speakers. Any one else pick them up and do they sound good?

I just sent an email to "wheeler@yambekaaudio.com" (on their contacts page) asking if they could suggest a low-cost home theater receiver that would complement their speakers. I'll post back here if/when I get a response.

In the meantime, does anyone here @ HDColumbus.net have a suggestion for a quality low-cost home theater receiver?

I've been looking at a Phillips HTS3555 for around $200. I like the fact that it had pretty good reviews at CNET, and it has an included IPod dock, too. I'm a little concerned that it doesn't have much in the way of audio inputs other than the Ipod dock, sat receiver audio, and a single aux-in stereo.

I'm replacing a 15 year old Sherwood receiver, with about a zillion inputs, including a phono input (yep, I still have vinyl and a working turntable). It looks to me like very few of the HTIB setups have any provision for phono.

Some of us still have lots of legacy music we don't want to give up ;^)

You might consider the Onkyo TX-SR605 that came out recently. I think it normally goes for $400 but should have lots of inputs for your old stuff. Plus HDMI and support for the newer audio codecs out there.

I second Zeligs recommendation.

that $159 plus shipping price must've been too good to be true, 5 speaker set goes for 299 now.
Still tempting. 159 would've been a knee-jerk buy price though, I can always find something to do with good inexpensive speakers.

Call me skeptical, but the label on the back of the speakers was reminiscent of the kind of labeling you see on cheap Chinese goods. If it sounds too good to be true ....... But I'll keep an open mind until you more adventurous types try them and report back.

There are lots of options for consumer electronics, and there is definitely a fine line that exists within the spectrum of value and quality. It is quite possible though, if your local to Columbus - you can be one of the more adventurous types. The offer still stands, if you or another member would like to give the speakers a listen and report back, let me know and we'll arrange to have you demo the speakers for a few days. Im just looking for feedback from the local community on our products. Take care

No offense intended at all. If you have built a better mousetrap and are able to hit that quality/price sweetspot then you have a hit. Good luck with the adventurous types ... I hope you have a good product!

Are you using us as a test group? How would it work? would we go to your show room or do want us to take a set of speakers home and we test drive for a couple weeks? Can you provide some "Specs" on the speakers, they look very nice but for example what are the drivers make from?

Yeah, I wouldnt be against giving them a go for a day or two. Im about to be done finishing my basement which will have a 7.1 setup, and it would be easy to try them out now, before everything is settled in.

Hi Guys-

We dont have a showroom per se - you can demo the speakers for a week or so in your home. Just send me an email or call: bwheeler@yambekaaudio.com
or call: 614-312-9239

Best
